New 2023 ADV160 to be Launched in January for (approx.) 3285 USD | 4-Valve Engine with 1PS More Power and Better Foot Grounding

Motorcycle & Industry

On August 24, Honda officially unveiled the new ADV160 in Indonesia, replacing the existing ADV150. It uses a 4-valve engine that has been upsized to the same displacement as the PCX160, and maximum output has been increased. In addition, the equipment has been completely updated.

Here, we would like to provide you with preliminary information on the specifications, release date, and price in Japan, which are of interest to you, along with such information.

Will the price increase be limited to (approx.) 155 USD even with the weak Yen while implementing a major update?

The ADV150, which debuted in 2020, is likely to be remodeled into the ADV160 for the 2023 model year. Like the previous model, it is based on the PCX series and adopts the power unit of the latest 2021 PCX160. The engine has been changed from the conventional 2-valve to 4-valve, and the power seems to have been increased from 15PS to 16PS while complying with the 2020 emission regulations.

The Indonesian version also features a larger LCD meter with an additional tachometer, a USB type A power supply instead of the DC socket of the previous model, a larger screen, and other updated equipment, making for a substantial model change. The same changes can be expected for the Japanese version.

The price is expected to be (approx.) 3285 USD, up (approx.) 155 USD from the previous model. This is an acceptable range given the more extensive equipment. Also, considering that the ADV150 is imported to Japan from Thailand and the new ADV160 will also be produced overseas, the impact of the recent yen depreciation phase will be minimized. In addition, the new ADV160 is expected to be launched in Japan in late January 2023.

The Japanese color variations are likely to be matte red, matte black, and pearl gray.

Concept urban adventurer remains unchanged, but with improved convenience features such as lowered seat height, etc.

The new ADV160 has a new frame shape to accommodate the new engine.
At the same time, the seat height has been lowered by 15mm from the previous 795 to 780 mm, making it easier to maneuver in everyday use. In addition, the screen itself has been enlarged, while the height-adjustment mechanism, which can be changed without the use of tools, continues to be employed for improved comfort. Furthermore, the larger LCD meter now displays a tachometer and outside air temperature gauge, and the power supply has been changed to USB for added convenience.

The engine displacement was increased from 149 to 156 cc, and the bore x stroke was shortened from 57.3 x 57.9 mm to 60.0 x 55.5 mm. The number of valves was increased from 2 to 4, and the compression ratio was raised from 10.6 to 12.0.

Like the latest PCX160, the Indonesian version of the ADV160 features a new traction control system. ABS continues to be used.

The outer frame of the ADV160 Indonesia-spec meter appears to be larger than that of the previous model. In addition, the indicators have been integrated into a single unit to achieve a compact size. The display can be switched with the switch in front of the meter.
