Honest Feelings of a Rider Who Chose the GSX-S1000GT as His First Big Bike | Beloved Motorcycle

GSX-S1000GT(998cc)Owner: Mr. Norman.

This corner introduces one MY BIKE submitted to Webike Community every week.
The model introduced this time is  Suzuki「GSX-S1000GT」and the owner is "Mr. Norman".

The GSX-S1000GT sports tourer, launched in 2021, is, as its name suggests, an optimized version of the street-fighter GSX-S1000 as a touring machine. GT stands for "Grand Tourer," and the GSX-S1000 GT has a full range of features designed specifically for long tours, including a highly aerodynamic cowl, Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.), and ETC2.0 on-board equipment as standard equipment.
The S.I.R.S. is equipped with a straight-four engine that delivers 150 PS at 11,000 rpm, which is equivalent to the output of a sports machine and offers outstanding athletic performance.

Nevertheless, as is the case with liter-class tourer models, they are large and harsh. Beginner riders may be concerned about whether they will be able to ride such a vehicle, and some may find it cool, but not able to afford it.

However, Norman chose this machine for his first big bike. After comparing models in the same class, he found the GSX-S1000GT to be the easiest to ride. Of course, he felt the engine was hot and heavy, which is a common complaint with large bikes, but he was very satisfied with the total ease of use and rideability. He also commented on the mode settings and position, making this a very valuable impression for riders interested in the GSX-S1000GT.

Norman's GSX-S1000GT is currently equipped with the factory optional pannier case. He says that the panniers are a little cumbersome and difficult to carry. However, it has more of an imposing tourer look!

This is Tomoyuki's favorite motorcycle. He says that in its standard condition, it has no load capacity at all, and as a tourer, he would like to have pannier cases. Also, custom parts can be used for GSX-S1000 and KATANA.

FROM MY BIKE COMMENTS

Motive for purchase

This is my first big bike. My use is touring including high speed, and I also go wading in Hakone and other places. Before purchasing, I rented and test rode Ninja 1000 and Katana.
In the end, I thought this was the easiest bike to ride, so I bought it. It is slightly different from its intended use, but I do not ride two people.

Advantages

The sound of the engine is good.
I think the balance of maneuverability is good.
The riding posture is a little forward-leaning for a naked bike, but it is a matter of getting used to it. Panniers are installed to increase load capacity. The high screen makes it easy to ride at high speeds. The quick shift is easy to use once you get used to it, and the cruise control is easy to use when cruising at high speeds.
I don't ride aggressively, so I set the mode to B and the traction to 4.

Disadvantages

The engine is hot.
(I can't help it) I think I will burn myself if I don't wear pants with leather on the inside even in summer.
Also, the app linkage called mySPIN is not available (hard to use).
I can get by without mySPIN with my phone and intercom. It's heavy, so you may not be able to get it up by yourself if you get stuck standing up.
(It is even harder to carry after panniers are attached.) It would be better if the tank capacity was larger.
(Fuel consumption is not so bad)

Advice for prospective buyers

I leave the maintenance to the store (I am mechanically challenged) and I have insurance and JAF, so I cannot give advice on maintenance and breakdowns. After purchasing the bike, I have rented and test-ridden various bikes, but as a GT, I can confirm that this bike is the easiest to ride after all. I think the rest is a matter of taste.
Also, since it is a GT, it is not suitable for city riding (too big).
