Yamaha WR250X Owner Review

Introducing a passionate story of "Enta" who ride WR250X, from Webike Community's "My Beloved Moto" campaign.

He shared his review of the WR250X, including the advantage and the disadvantage, which he understands well because he is the owner.

Brief self-introduction

  • Since I started riding when I was 16 years old, I have spent 35 years riding motorcycles. However, due to a chronic illness or injury that comes with motorcycle riding, I gave up riding for about 8 years and came back as a returning rider in the late 40s.
  • I guess you could say that my motorcycle is my daily leg, but it's more of a refreshing change of pace for me to go for a ride.
  • Bought it new in September 2017 as it is the last model and was purchased new in September 2017. Originally, I was looking for a motorcycle as a second motorcycle for a larger motorcycle, so I don't enjoy the same type of motorcycle, and I need to get the right equipment in an off-road vehicle. So I had my eye on a motard and looked at Honda, Yamaha, and Kawasaki, and decided on the WR, which is expensive but has a good reputation! However, because the production was ended in June, there was no stock in the prefecture.

Satisfaction

  • It's a motard, so it weighs only 135kg, and although it's a short-stroke single-cylinder engine, it turns well up top.

The standard tires are BS BATTLAX! The suspension is solid with front inverted suspension, and it's halfway racer-like ^o^. The silencer is heavy, but it matches the body and the sound is moderately good, so it doesn't need to be replaced ^o^. In addition, the gold wheels look great on the white body^o^.

Dissatisfaction

  • The fuel tank is small, which is still a drawback of off-road vehicles. Even though the 250 has good fuel economy, it has a cruising range of about 200 km without refueling, and it is a high-octane engine. I'm not very good at high-speed riding, and if I don't ride at speeds up to 120 km/h, I'll get swept away by crosswinds. Plus, the steering wheel starts to go out of control and the vibration is very strong. The engine performs well, but it doesn't accelerate in the low rev range. I guess it's like a heavy motor that starts spinning slowly and then gradually goes to higher rpm.

There's no fuel gauge, oil pressure gauge, water thermometer, and tachometer. The headlights are small and the H4 bulbs are halogen. I also installed a rear carrier, but it is equal to no-load capacity. I think it is only a souvenir load capacity.

Summary

It's a racy motorcycle that enjoys touring in the neighborhood and riding over the mountain passes in between, and it's a high-octane version of the motorcycle, but it may not be enough if you're mainly interested in riding distance. After all, I thought such a motorcycle is fun to ride. As this is a popular model, the stock parts are gone, but we have quite a few aftermarket parts available, so I think it's a fun motorcycle for customization as well.

Thank you, Enta, for a narrative that shows so much love for the WR250X!
