Kawasaki KLX125 Owner Review

Introducing a passionate story of "TT-R" who rides KLX125, from Webike Community's "My Beloved Moto" campaign.

He shared his review of the KLX125 including the advantage and the disadvantage, which he understands well because he is the owner.

Brief self-introduction

I've been riding motorcycles for a long time. My family says that I am more than a motorcycle enthusiast, that I have an incurable addiction, and that I will never recover from my love of motorcycles until I die.

I like to ride everything from small to large motorcycles, on-road to off-road, and on the track. Not only do I like to ride, but I also like to maintain and modify my motorcycles. Since retiring, I have had more time to maintain the motorcycles of my friends. When I see a motorcycle that has not been well taken care of, I feel like servicing it.

I have an XR230 off-road motorcycle, but I also bought a KLX125 for more fun. I can't help but fall over when I go on attack-type forest roads. Not only while riding, but also while stopping the motorcycle to check out the route ahead on foot, the side stand often gets stuck in the dirt and the motorcycle falls over under its own weight. I bought a used KLX125 so that I wouldn't have to worry too much about it falling over.

The main purpose of this vehicle is to play with the forest road and to ride for a while.

Satisfaction

As it is mainly used for attacking forest trails, its compactness, lightweight, and good footing are its greatest weapons. It's not very powerful, but it doesn't need much horsepower in the attack series, so I have no complaints about the 125 OEM engine.

The fuel economy is good for a sports engine. It is not as fuel-efficient as the Grom, which is equipped with a practical engine, but it has a longer cruising range than the Grom because of its larger gas tank. If you are touring, you can drive more than 50km/L without refueling for more than 300km. Although it is an off-roader with small wheels, the suspension performance is okay. The suspension is much better than the Tricker with the same wheel size. The brakes also work well and are controllable.

The seat height is higher than the XR230 at 830mm for this size, but the seat is narrower, so foot grounding is better than the XR230. It looks good as an off-roader.

Dissatisfaction

The seat is so narrow that its foot grounding is a priority. It's as comfortable as a triangular horse and makes long-distance riding a torture ground. For touring, my ass is limited to 100km one way and 200km round trip, and anything beyond that is either training or torture. It has a long-range, but it doesn't take advantage of its performance.

It's not designed well as an off-roader. The fittings for the tank shroud, footpeg attachment, and side stand attachment are not well designed. The bracket is too long, so they add weight and are easily damaged by tipping. The design of the Serow 225 was really well thought out, and it is not easily damaged by the fall.

The engine has a lot of vibration. It's supposed to be a newer engine design, but it vibrates a lot. More vibration than the older XTZ125 of the design. This sweet design doesn't boil down to the details, and the motorcycle is heavy for an off-roader of this size.

Summary

This is recommended for those who have other motorcycles but want a motorcycle to play off-road. Low maintenance cost and low burden even if you own multiple motorcycles. For those who are small and have concerns about foot grounding but want to enjoy off-road riding. I think this is the only one with good foot grounding.

Thank you, TT-R, for a narrative that shows so much KLX125 love!
