Magic Powder’s Gentle Cleaning Properties are Very Attractive! EZ BLUST’s Tremendous Potential!

How to

Unlike sandblasting, which uses alumina sand or glass beads as the media, the new generation of blasting systems using soda (baking soda) is environmentally friendly and is attracting attention in a variety of situations. What kind of parts can be blasted with this system and how does it work? Here we report on our experience with the EZ BLUST blasting system.

Direct pressure blasting system with simultaneous water injection

At first glance, this 18-liter vertical tank body resembles a direct pressure blasting system, but it incorporates a direct injection system for baking soda media called Magic Powder. In general wet blasting, the media is mixed under high water pressure or sucked up using negative pressure caused by high water pressure, but in this system, tap water is mixed just before the gun nozzle jets to create wet blasting.

The media is made mainly of environmentally friendly baking soda, so even when you want to work with a field sprayer, the barrier screen trowel (a trowel with a transparent acrylic plate to prevent corona) provides good workability. The media that falls on the ground and remains is collected with a shovel, and if it is sprinkled with boiled water, it melts quickly. Even if the scattered media becomes solid in winter, it melts and becomes gas by rain.

Excellent for finishing chromium plating!

I was going to polish the Super Cub's used iron rims before replacing them, but even though I thought I polished them gently with Bonstar, fine scratch scratches were likely to remain. In recent years, instead of replacing with new parts, restoration with polishing and finishing the original parts as much as possible is preferred, so as a means of removing dirt, it seems to be the strongest at present. If it is a steel rim of a practical motorcycle that has been neglected for a long period of time in the semi open-air, rust may be a concern, but by using EZ BLUST to gently remove dirt, it can be revived to an amazing beauty.

As you can see, there are still some bumps on the surface where the rust has penetrated deep into the metal, but unless the rust is really bad, the chrome plating layer did not peel off and fall off. If it's just surface rust, EZ BLUST will give you amazing results. Unlike using a metal brush to polish it off, there are no scratch marks because the media is derived from baking soda. The shine is amazing. The baking soda media is alkaline, so it cleans away grease and grime at the same time. I left it indoors after the treatment and found that it did not easily cause rusting again.

Even the chrome exhaust pipes, which are known to rust easily, look like this. If you do it right and have the right infrastructure and conditions, you can get a great finish with EZ BLUST. This system is not just for restoring a dirty old motorcycle, but for creating a true "aged" look.

A finish that makes you not want to go full-dress.

There are many fans who enjoy riding old motorcycles that are beautifully finished, and we understand that feeling, but with this EZ BLUST, you can get a finish that aims to be the best it can be. As long as you have the replacement parts and rubber parts available, full restoration can be done at any time! The EZ BLUST's great appeal is that it makes you feel like that.

POINT
  • Point 1: Because it is media of the baking soda origin that is kind to the environment, even if it blows in the field, after treatment is easy.
  • Point 2: If you have a 3 horsepower or higher power compressor, continuous work is easy, but if you have a 100 VAC compressor, take a break!
  • Point 3: It is essential to install a dryer on the compressor. Moisture will mix with the compressed air due to condensation from continuous use, but moisture is the enemy of EZ BLUST!

Detergents are a big help when cleaning. Baking soda has been attracting a lot of attention over the past few years because of its ability to easily break down grease and grime. It is now a high-performance detergent that can be purchased at 100-yen stores. The EZ BLUST is an environmentally friendly blasting system that uses special media derived from baking soda (which has a finer particle size than ordinary baking soda). What I felt when using this new item was, "It has great potential! This system has been in use in the restoration scene overseas for some time. This system has been used in the restoration scene overseas for a long time, but first of all, I would like to ask, "What is baking soda? First of all, I would like to confirm what baking soda is.

Baking soda is another name for sodium bicarbonate (sodium bicarbonate), which is weakly alkaline in nature. It is often used as an additive in foods (for example, in baking bread dough and sweets) and in medicines (for example, as a refreshing stomachic). It is harmless to humans and animals and is environmentally friendly. It is difficult to dissolve in cold water, but if it is heated, mixed with hot water, or poured over hot water, it will volatilize as carbon dioxide gas. It is often used to remove grease and sink stains in the kitchen, but since it is easily dissolved by hot water coming out of the faucet at less than 40 degrees Celsius, it can be understood that the wet blast effect can be obtained only with cold water. Paradoxically, if we can blast at a water temperature just below the point where the baking soda does not dissolve, we can achieve the most effective treatment conditions. It may be thought that this is the most effective treatment condition.

EZ Blast is harmless to humans and easy to use, and we were able to try it out on a variety of parts. We were able to try out the EZ Blast on a variety of parts and found that it removed rust from chrome-plated parts with a beautiful finish that was clearly different from other blast treatments. As you know, there are various stages of rusting of chrome plating. It ranges from conditions so severe that it raises the plating layer to mild rust that occurs only on the surface like dirt. Rust that has penetrated into the metal will lift the chrome plating layer, but even in such a condition, we were able to obtain a certain beauty. If the rust is simple surface rust, it will be shiny as if nothing happened.! Slippery! The result of the work was Moreover, it is wonderful because the work can be completed in no time! (It won't happen without the infrastructure conditions in place.)

To remove surface rust from chrome plating, it is often started by spraying rust prevention spray and letting it penetrate, followed by polishing with fine metal wool, but after polishing, scratch scratches often appear. This is very different from manual polishing. Wet type EZ Blast can clean and remove even the small parts where the fingertips cannot get in at once due to the power of the water flow. Furthermore, after the treatment, the plated surface is free of scratches, dirt, and dullness, and regains a bright shine. We tested this on an unused chrome-plated muffler that had been sitting in a warehouse for many years, and before the treatment, the entire surface was rusty and brown. You can see the result in the before and after comparison. I also tested this on a used steel rim with rusted chrome plating and was satisfied with the result.

If you can get this kind of result, you can expect a lot, but please remember that this is only possible if the infrastructure is in place. Especially important is the condition of the compressor. Compressed air containing moisture will not allow the magic powder to spray completely dry and smooth, so it is important to understand the total system before proceeding. Even so, we have high expectations for the EZ Blast, which seems to have a variety of applications.
