Customizing KX112 to enduro specifications and recommended parts. [Minimoto]

News

I'm Kohtaro, the Webike offloader.
The head of Webike has taken up enduro racing! For his first bike, he chose Kawasaki's KX112!
The KX112 is the largest displacement of the 2-stroke mini-moto size, with good footing and a light weight. The KX112 has a good footing and the vehicle is light. The KX112 is not recommended for beginners, but it is a perfect machine for people who can ride bikes to some extent to start off-road fun.

Since the KX112 is a pure motocrosser, I custom built it to go enduro racing!
Here are some of the products we've installed and will be installing!

Products installed

We've installed a variety of products, from those that are essential if you're going to be doing enduro to those that will make your mini-moto look like an adult!
There are many parts whose compatibility has not yet been updated by the manufacturers, and many of you may have been wondering if they can be installed.

ZETA: Handlebar Clamp Kit

If you are an adult riding a mini-moto, the first thing you will want to change is the position!
When an adult rides it, the handlebars and knees are too close together and it's cramped. So I chose this one, which allows me to change the handlebar position.
The lower clamps are also available in 4 different heights including options, so you can combine 32 different positions.
Clamp diameter also 22.2 mm and 28.Two patterns of 6mm are lined up, so you can make a fat bar out of it!

ZETA: Bar Rise Kit

This is a part that I had trouble installing, and I recommend it to those who don't want to replace the entire top bridge.
This bar clamp kit can be attached to handlebar mounts to offset the handlebar position by 20mm forward or backward and increase the height by 26mm.
This one also has a clamp diameter of 22.2 mm and 28.Two patterns of 6mm are lined up, so you can make it a fat bar!

PRO TAPER: CONTOUR [Conzer.] Handlebar Mini HIGH

The handlebar is one of the parts that I was really worried about. It's one of those parts that you can find the width, height, pull, etc. on the website, but when you actually put it on, it's not quite right, but when you ride it, it's perfect.
Since this is a mini-moto, we chose this handlebar which is narrower and taller. Combined with the clamp kit I mentioned earlier, the position is perfect for adult use!
When choosing a handlebar for your mini-moto, choose one with a large area to clamp the handguard and master

ACERBIS: TRI FIT handguard

This is the only handguard I've used in years!
Since it is all plastic, it is just so light! And I love it because it doesn't interfere with the swivel of the handlebars, so I don't get tired when I ride it.
The trick is not to tighten the bolts too tightly. As you can see in the picture, the handguard and master will not break if the bolt is tightened enough to rotate with the brake and clutch master when the bike falls.

If you try to put a full-size handguard on a mini-moto vehicle, you will not be able to install it neatly due to the short width of the handlebar and the steep rise, so it is no exaggeration to say that the TRI FIT is the only choice for the closed type.
If you want to use a genuine steel handle, please purchase a steel H set with an adapter because the inner diameter of the handle is different.

ZETA: Pivot lever FP /Brakes, 3-finger, retractable, for racers

The important thing in enduro racing is to eliminate the possibility of retiring.
Let's replace the lever with a retractable type that minimizes damage to the lever due to tipping!
It also has an adjuster that allows you to adjust the lever position to fit your hand size.

ZETA: Pivot Perch FP/3-Finger Clutch Lever Holder Set

If you change the lever on the brake side, you will want to change the clutch side as well. If you are going to change the lever, how about a set of holders?
The clutch cable has an adjuster that allows you to quickly adjust the tension of the clutch cable, so you don't have to worry about using too much half-clutch during the race and getting it all taut.
In addition, the newly developed ratio device allows the clutch lever pull weight to be set to two levels (lightness or sharpness).
And...It's simply cooler.It's important! It's important!

TREKFIELD: Stacked Belts

When it comes to stack belts, there's not a day that goes by that I don't see one at the race track!
Some products cannot be installed without removing the forks, but this product can be installed without removing the forks, which is GOOD!
In enduro, it is important to have more parts of the bike that can be pulled.

PROMOTO BILLET: Kickstand

The KX112 is a motocrosser, so of course it does not have a side stand.
The side stand is very convenient to have, because you don't have to look for the triangular stand when you come back to the paddock after the race, and you can get off the bike at the start area before the race.

The PROMOTO BILLET side stand has a return spring built into the body of the stand, so you don't have to worry about it getting caught on something and losing it during a race, and the stand pops up along the body of the bike so it doesn't get in the way when riding, highly recommended!
However, it's not very strong, so you shouldn't straddle it and kick it while it's on the stand.

TM Designworks: Skid Plate

If you are going to do enduro, you have to have a skid plate or you will cry.
This not only protects the frame, but also avoids the worst case scenario of a cracked crankcase...forced waist down OH plus the cost of crankcase parts.
This skid plate also covers the sides, so it can protect the water pump, too, on those days when we're all tipping over!

HammerHead: Shift Pedal

The stock shift pedal bends inward with just a little bump, so here it is!
The forged aluminum arms and machined aluminum retractable head prevent damage in the event of a fall.
The shift tip is also green, so it can be used as a one-point accent.

ISA: Rear sprocket

I have no complaints with the stock gear ratios for riding on the flat, but I want to be able to run in second gear when I go into the mountains, so I changed to 53 gears, two gears up.
ヒルクライムなどで2速が使えるようになりました!
決して純正の鉄スプロケットがダサいから替えたわけではありません……!!

DID: SUPER Non-Seal Chain 420NZ3 Gold

If the sprocket is to be enlarged, the chain will be insufficient and will need to be replaced.
KX112 is cheap in size 420, so pick up a shiny gold chain!
By the way, I chose the 126 link because I had two rear guns up.
This is a small trick, but the 420 size chain does not have a caulking system, only a clip system, so the clip should be fastened on the inside to prevent it from coming off.

Workshop Kitamura: Clutch spring retainer

One of the niche off-road parts that is selling like hotcakes right now is the Kitamura clutch spring retainer!
This part suppresses abnormal vibrations from the clutch spring and improves the accuracy of operation, resulting in a better touch and shorter stroke to control the semi-clutch.
Also, by inserting a washer between the retainer and the basket, you can change the preload and lighten the grip of the lever.
It is easier to get up front and the clutch lever is lighter. There's no reason not to put it on an enduro vehicle!

Products to be installed

I haven't installed it yet, but here are a few that I've already purchased and am waiting to integrate!

MotionPro: Coolant recovery tank

The KX112 has a single radiator and needs heat protection, so I'm planning to install it before I start racing in a real (?) enduro race. I'm planning to install it before I start enduro racing.
What does this part do? It recovers the coolant that has been blown when the car overheats, and returns it when the car cools down.
Install it to protect your engine before it seizes up!

DRC: Front fork 85/150cc adult specification

Since mini-moto vehicles are intended for children, most of them have suspension settings designed for a rider weighing about 55 kg. Therefore, if an adult rides too hard, the suspension may break down.
If you are a light weight person or a beginner, the stock springs will be sufficient, but if you are a big man or a person who runs with a lot of openings, I recommend you to change the springs.
I'd recommend DRC's adult-spec springs, they're less expensive than the stock optionally available springs!

HammerHead: Forged Brake Pedal with Rotating Tip

If you change your shift pedal, you'll want to customize your brake pedal to the same brand!
Like the shift pedal, it is made of 6061 forged aluminum for the highest level of strength and durability! In addition to the normal position, the pedal can be changed to three different positions in the front and rear directions by changing the screw position.
Also, the retractable aluminum tip is designed to prevent damage when the tip collapses like a shift pedal, such as in a fall!

DRC: Chromoly wide foot pegs

The steps on mini-moto vehicles are often cost-cutting, poorly made steps. They are also small relative to the size of an adult boot.
Although not as bad as the CRF125F, which is famous for its pot-bellied bends, the KX112 also has steps that are not suitable for adult use, so I plan to replace them.
The design offers excellent mud removal, and the balanced arrangement of the teeth and 50mm wide treads front and rear help to ensure a stable ride!

summary

This is the perfect bike for those of you who think that the 4-stroke 125 is just not powerful enough!
Even if you have a full-size camera, how about one for fun!
The price of the vehicle is so low that you might end up customizing it too much. ...... lol
