ENGINEERING KIYONAGA's SR400

This Yamaha SR400 Custom has 17" front and rear wheels and a monoshock rear suspension with a modern sport-like arrangement. From the first, it was originally based on the SR racer model that Engineering KIYONAGA had raced at the One & Two Festival in Autopolis, and was built to similar specifications.

Yamaha XJR400 OEM front fork is adopted. The gull arm swingarm is from NSR250R (NC21). the aiming that is emphasized "riding". Piston of the engine has been changed for increasing displacement. FCR carburetor helps the engine to start easily with a single kick, making it comfortable for both short trips and long touring. Recently, the coloring was changed from matte black to glossy black with a carbon pattern. With all these modifications to the comfort and looks of the bike, it is practically finished, but its owner still has some things he would like to do on this bike. It looks like he can still enjoy this bike custom for a long time to come.

Handle

Handlebar is by POSH and changed to blue to match the body color. Same for bar ends and grips in the same tone of color. In addition, the meter has been replaced from a common twin-lens type to a smaller diameter meters with a flat layout. Incidentally, the lever visible under the left switch box is for decompression of the kick start, which is unique to the SR series.

Bodyworks

The seat, which at first glance appears to be a single seat, was designed to integrate the rear seat with the tail cowl and fender eliminator, and was a one-off by KIYONAGA.

Some of you may have an idea where the tank comes from. Yes, it's fuel tank from Honda CB400SF. It is so beautifully finished that it looks as if it was colored as aftermarket parts just for SR.

Engine

The engine has with Wiseco Φ89mm pistons to increase displacement from 399cc to 418cc. For the intake and exhaust systems, KEIHIN FCR Φ37mm carburetor and Kiyonaga's one-off exhaust are selected.

Chassis

The swingarm is a OEM gull arm from HONDA NSR250R (MC21), and a SHOWA piggyback type rear shock is connected to the swingarm with a direct mount.

The chassis area is also made with the same know-how as that KIYONAGA's single racer. The silencer is made of carbon shell, and the exhaust bracket is also made by KIYONAGA.
