Motorcycle Tips「DIY」Increased Storage Capacity by Diverting Yamaha’s OEM Tool Box to CB223S

How to

The Honda CB223S is a classic, minimalist air-cooled single. While based on the tracker FTR, this model is a stylish variation with a rounded design. Its simple styling is similar to the Yamaha SR400, but it is smaller, lighter, and has a cell motor, making it an easy-to-approach motorcycle.

The CB223S was introduced by Honda in 2008.
Like the trucker-style FTR on which it was based, it was small, simple, and easy to maneuver despite its powerful 18-inch front and rear wheel size.

However, the CB223S also has a weakness. It has almost no storage space. In the OEM condition, a tool box with a key is installed on the left side of the chassis, but there is no room for anything other than on-board tools. Well, most naked models have no storage space or a little storage space under the seat. However, I would like to increase the storage space even a little bit.

In this issue of MOTO HACK, we introduce the customization of Nutria2, who has added another toolbox to his CB223S. The procedure is very simple: install an OEM Yamaha toolbox, which is used on the Yamaha Celo 225 and TW225, under the rear fender. We were worried that it might not be safe even though they are from different manufacturers, but upon further investigation, we found that the rear wheel size of the CB223S and the Celo 225 are the same, 18 inches. Although there are some differences such as the type of tires, it seems that clearance can be secured surprisingly well.

In the OEM style, the box that was only on the left side is also attached to the right side.
There is no manufacturer's warranty for his original custom style, which has a slightly better balance, so it may be dangerous to put valuables in it, but there is plenty of room for consideration as a means of increasing valuable storage capacity. It's in.

I knew the lid was made of rubber.
The used ones were hardened.
But the OEM ones can be ordered only for the lid.
