The annual motorcycle show is the event that marks the opening of the motorcycle season. Yamaha is expected to unveil its new models for the first time at the first of these shows, the Osaka Motorcycle Show starting on March 17. Three moped 2-sport models are to be launched in Japan all at once!
Is Yamaha serious about competing with Honda's 125 series?
Yamaha has a platform that mounts a liquid-cooled single-cylinder 125cc engine on a steel twin-tube frame and has three models in its European lineup: the full-cowl sport YZF-R125, the naked sport MT-125, and the neo-classic XSR125.
It is expected that all three models will be launched in Japan in one fell swoop in 2023, and will be unveiled for the first time at motorcycle shows. Of note is the Legacy, an advanced version of the XSR125 with spoked wheels, which has been added to the lineup. It has a luxurious feel that is hard to believe for a 125cc model and is likely to be favored by experienced riders.
Also, the news is that the YZF-R125 has been restyled for 2023 and looks exactly like the YZF-R7.
It is better equipped than the YZF-R25 with a sporty full cowl, a single-lens LED headlight that can be switched high or low, embedded in an M-shaped duct, and electronic controls such as traction control.
The MT-125 is a 2023 model with a 5-inch color TFT meter that can also be linked to Yamaha's smartphone app. All models are expected to go on sale in Japan in the second half of 2023, after being unveiled at the spring motorcycle show. If you happen to see one on display, stop by the show to check it out for yourself.

2023 XSR125 Legacy European version [YAMAHA] Like the XSR700 Legacy, it is equipped with dual-purpose tires and spoked wheels and incorporates scrambler customization and classic colors.

2023 XSR125 European spec [YAMAHA] Two of the three colors are new. The photo shows Heritage White, with the others being Yamaha Blue and Impact Yellow (continued). It is unclear whether the XSR125 will be displayed in Legacy or STD.

2023 YZF-R125 European spec [YAMAHA] At a quick glance, the styling has evolved to look like the YZF-R7. A total of two color variations are available: Icon Blue and Tech Black, shown in the photo.

Since ram air is not used, the M-shaped ducts become headlight spaces where bi-functional LED headlights are placed.

2023 MT-125 European specs [YAMAHA] The Cyan Storm shown in the photo wears the fluorescent-colored wheels typical of the MT series. Also available in Icon Blue and Tech Black.

New 5-inch full-color TFT meter with smartphone connectivity. In addition to the fuel gauge and gear position, text messages and incoming notifications can be displayed.
