Yamaha X-Force or Honda PCX160!? We took the Time to Test Ride Them, Comparing the Details

Motorcycle & Industry
The X-Force ABS light motorcycle scooter was released by Yamaha in June 2022. The new-generation 155 cc Blue Core engine features a variable valve mechanism VVA and is mounted on a tubular steel frame based on the Cygnus Griffas, a moped-type scooter. We tested the new face of the X-Force against the Honda PCX160, the top-selling light motorcycle scooter in the world.
What were the results?

Following the Cygnus Griffas moped, Yamaha has introduced a new model in the light motorcycle class, the X-Force ABS. Featuring wide bar handlebars, flat floorboards, and aggressive styling, it is well differentiated from the NMAX 155, which is powered by the same 155cc Blue Core engine.

This project aims to clarify the position of the X-Force by directly comparing it with the Honda PCX160, the leader in the light motorcycle scooter market.
The difference between the PCX160's 8,000 units and the X-Force's 3,000 units is not small.

Let's start with the engines.
Both vehicles use a system that integrates the functions of the starter motor and generator (Honda: ACG starter, Yamaha: Smart Motor Generator), so the engine is very quiet when starting up, and the sound that follows when idling is so quiet that it cannot be heard in heavy traffic. The PCX160 is also very quiet at startup. The PCX160 has an idling stop system that can be turned on and off, but the X-Force is not equipped with such a system. The NMAX155, which uses the same type of engine, does, so this may simply be a matter of cost.
