This is an era when racing homologate machines are sold to the general public!
In the late 1980s, sports bikes escalated to the point where they were directly related to racing machines, to the point where they were distinguished from replicas by their category.
This escalation has expanded from the 250cc to 400cc classes, which are the major categories for production cars, to the TT-F1, which is competed in the 750cc class, due to the popularity of the Suzuka 8-hour endurance race.
However, with the rise of 24-hour endurance racing in Europe, the FZ750 became more of a racing machine, and Yamaha developed the FZR750 from the FZ750 to the FZR750 with a full cowl. Yamaha even entered the Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Race as a works machine based on this machine.
