SUZUKI ACROSS Owner's Review

Webike Community "Let's Talk About Your Motorcycle! From the campaign, here's a passionate narrative from "West" who rides the Across!
He told us about his in-play review of the Across, including the good and unsatisfactory parts, which he knows well because he's the owner.

[A brief self-introduction]

  • Motorcycle history and how I usually enjoy my motorcycle.
    Seven years of motorcycle experience.

I rode my motorcycle to school when I was a student and to work every day after I started working in a company. I tour about once a month, mostly for short day trips to overnight medium-distance touring. I enjoy winding down, so I like street fighters and tourers. I currently own three Suzuki cars.

  • How long have I been riding this bike?

Summer 2014-.
I rode it almost every day to school until 2019, and from 2020 onwards I'll be riding it for occasional touring.

  • Motivation to buy.

Since my GSXR250 was scrapped in an accident, the Across was my first choice because it had the same engine and I wanted to see a car that was in good condition right away, so I bought it. The engine feeling of the GSXR250 that I liked was inherited, and I decided to buy it because it was perfect for commuting to school because of its good load capacity due to the met-in design.

Satisfaction

  • For applications

I used it every day for commuting to school, and the met-in was very convenient. In addition, because the body of the bike was large and solid, it is very stable even when we loaded a lot of luggage on the trip back to my parents' house and touring, and drove with the condition like the picture. Also, it has very good footing, so it is very comfortable to ride around town.

  • For driving

As far as torque at low to mid-range speeds goes, it's not quite as good as the recent Paratwin, but it's powerful if you keep the revs pulled from a low gear at 8,000 rpm. Weighing nearly 200 kilograms, the car doesn't flutter around curves, but it's very stable in a straight line. Above all, the sound and engine feel at high revs is the best you can get from an inline four-cylinder.

  • For looks
It's a large 250cc bike with a cool cowling. The color is a very nice red color, and it is rather flashy and distinctive alongside the other bikes.

Dissatisfaction

  • For applications

The tank is under the seat as shown in the picture, so the capacity is only 12 liters. The inline four-cylinder engine often uses a high rpm range, so fuel economy is only about 13 litres/km in the city, and the range is short. It also doesn't have a fuel meter, instead it has a fuel indicator, which lights up yellow with 6 litres left and red with 2 litres to go. However, it's not always very reliable, so be very careful about running out of gas.

  • For running

It's an inline four-cylinder, so I can't blame it, but the torque at mid to low speed is scant. I compensated for this by pulling to 10,000 rpm in first gear and then maintaining high rpm. However, because I was maintaining the high RPMs, I couldn't drive at night in a residential area because of the noise it made.

However, the noise was not good enough to drive at night in a residential area. The body of the car is large, so when you look at it from the front, it looks round and fat, and it is not very stylish.

Summary(Recommended for such a person)

If you don't do a lot of long-distance driving and are primarily a city or day touring enthusiast, I think there are few downsides to this bike.
I think it's met-in loadability, 250cc inline four-cylinder engine feel, and creative body structure, all of which are very appealing and will infect you immediately.

Thank you, West, for a narrative that conveys your love for the Across!
