At the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, SHOEI, a helmet manufacturer, exhibited a motorcycle helmet with a head-up display function. Is this a scouter?! In the near future, I have been trying to achieved a little to combat the power of the future motorcycle life!
The subject "Smart Helmet" was also exhibited at Tokyo MC show
The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) held every year in 1 month in Las Vegas, USA, is the world's largest consumer electronics trade fair. It was the “smart helmet” that stood out in 2019. The communication module, HUD (head-up display), and a near-future helmet equipped with a camera, are jointly developed by SHOEI, a premium helmet manufacturer in Japan, and NS West, which has a proven track record as a Japanese HUD manufacturer. At CES, NS West exhibited a IT-HL (tentative name, prototype) was unveiled for the first time in the world. And at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show held last March, SHOEI made this IT-HL the first time in Japan. Luckily, I was able to experience the actual IT-HL in the form of a motorcycle across the road before the riding video projected on the monitor.

[IMPRESSION] The visual line significance is reduced and the safety is enhanced.
The lightness I felt was the same as an ordinary helmet. The IT-HL demo is a virtual experience of navigation using the display and sound in the helmet while watching the running video when heading to Hakone from the vicinity of Tokyo and Shimbashi. Even if a display such as "turn at 10m" appears in front of the intersection, there is not much discomfort in the sight. The forward view looks natural, and invisible by information. Of course, I could hear the voice, so it was very easy to understand.
On a motorcycle, if a smart phone is attached to the handlebar part, it will repeat the movement of the line of sight during the navigation, but it seems to be very safe without that thing. Especially when driving in the metropolitan area, it will be a scene where you go to the right and go to the left, even if you are accustomed to riding a motorcycle, but it-HL seems to reduce such a burden. Also, the area where you can answer the phone is the same as the intercommunication. It is also a good place where all the information is collected.

In the test, I was able to actually confirm the function of IT-HL in the position across the motorcycle.

The display was projected from the chin to the top from the bottom. It can be used even if you wear glasses.
