HONDA MOTOCOMPO50 1982 Introduction | Reliving the Old Days of Honda Collection Hall

Motorcycle & Industry

The Honda Collection Hall is a museum for four-wheeled and two-wheeled vehicles located in Twin Ring Motegi, Haga-gun, Tochigi Prefecture. It was opened in March 1998 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Honda Motor Company and to convey the spirit of Honda's origins to many visitors. In addition, the company is conducting a riding test to see if the motorcycle is actually performing well. A video of the test ride was taken to allow you to see many of the models in action. We've compiled those videos, broken down by age and displacement, into a feature. Your first motorcycle may be here. We invite you to relive the old days of your fascination with motorcycles and enjoy the motorcycle life again.

World's first simultaneous development of four-wheel and two-wheel vehicles - Simultaneous launch of the new concept motorcycle "Honda City", a new FF live vehicle with a new sensation, and "Honda Motocompo", a trunk bike for use with Honda City

Honda Motor Co., Ltd. launches the two new FF concept motorcycles, the Honda City passenger motorcycle and the Honda City Pro commercial vehicle, on November 11 at Honda dealerships nationwide. The Honda City features a tall tall boy design with a small footprint and excellent comfort, and is equipped with a newly developed Comvax engine that delivers top fuel economy and power performance in its class.

In addition, the trunk bike "Honda Motocompo," which has been under simultaneous development for use with this Honda City, will also be released simultaneously through Honda dealers nationwide. (The word "live vehicle" means "lively" or "active" in English, and was quoted imaginatively as a word that matches the concept of this vehicle.

With the launch of the City and Motocompo, Honda is advocating the creation of a new usability for outdoor life by expanding the functions of motorcycles and motorcycles in a multiplicative manner by mounting two wheels on four wheels, rather than the conventional usability of a six-wheeled life with four wheels and two wheels. This is what we advocate. This is also the world's first attempt to fully utilize Honda's strengths in motorcycles and automobiles.

Honda City is a new concept motorcycle that is not bound by the conventional concept of a motorcycle, but is designed to maximize the functions of a motorcycle, such as comfort, fuel efficiency, and power performance (maximum function), while minimizing the engine, suspension, and other mechanisms that produce these functions (maximum function). It is a new concept motorcycle that targets young people with an urban sensibility. The body adopts a fresh tall-boy design, and the tall height creates a spacious interior with excellent aerodynamic performance. The engine is a newly developed lightweight and compact COMBAX engine with a high output of 1,231 cm3 and 67 horsepower (R type), and the best fuel economy in its class (19.0 km/L in 10 mode, E type).

The COMBAX engine is an abbreviation for COMPACT, BLAZING, COMBUSTION, and AXIOM (high density rapid flame combustion principle). It is a new concept engine with a high compression ratio based on the CVCC-II engine and a new funnel-type combustion chamber for an ultra-long stroke (ultra-small bore) and high combustion efficiency.

In addition, a newly designed rear suspension system has been adopted to secure luggage space, and other ideas to improve functionality have been adopted everywhere to create a spacious and user-friendly living space in a compact body.

Just as the Civic and Accord set a new standard for motorcycles of their time, the Honda City will set a new standard for the new automotive society of the future.

The Honda Motocompo is a completely new category of trunk bike that has been developed simultaneously for use in the City. It is ultra-compact and lightweight (118.5 cm in length, 42 kg in dry weight), and is equipped with a 49 cm3, 2.5 horsepower two-stroke engine. It is designed to be easy to use as a trunk bike, with a mechanism to prevent fuel, oil, and battery leakage, and folding handlebars and steps. The city is also equipped with anchor nuts that can be used when mounting moto-components. It is designed to be securely fastened with a special belt (optional).
