Honda's popular CB500F, CBR500R and CB500X models have received engine and chassis upgrades for the 2022 model year, making the models popular with beginners and experienced riders alike.
Showa's 41mm SFF-BP USD forks, used on the 4-cylinder CB650R and CBR650R middleweight models, are the highlight of a new front end that improves handling and ride comfort. The CB500F and CBR500R also feature lightweight Y-spoke aluminum wheels, paired with 296mm wavy front discs and radial-mount Nissin calipers. The adventure-focused CB500X shares the same brakes and suspension, with a longer front suspension stroke and a larger, lighter 19-inch front wheel.
It also features a lightweight swingarm that is stiffer in the rotational direction and more flexible in the lateral direction for improved handling and cornering performance. The punchy 500cc engine produces up to 35kW, which can be used with an A2 license, but for 2022, the PGM-FI setting has been changed to further improve torque and overall character.
For 2022, the naked CB500F will be available in three vibrant new colors. The sporty CBR500R also gets a new color, Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic, with added graphics that emphasize the bike's racetrack heritage. The adventure model CB500X will be available in two new colors for 2022, Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic and Pearl Organic Green. Grand Prix Red, Honda's traditional color, is also available.
