5th BMW R1250GS
Webike Motorcycle Selection List Price: 2,380,000 - 3,018,000 yen
It is the latest model of GS, the dominant of ADV. The biggest topic is the new engine. The engine displacement has been increased by about 100cc from the previous generation, and both the intake and exhaust valves have been fitted with variable valve timing and lift mechanisms, resulting in an engine that produces excellent torque and power at all rpm. In addition, power selection, cruise control and ABS are of course already equipped. It's a model of a large ADV, so it's no surprise. However, the function-oriented styling and the power of the GS is still the same as ever, and there is no need for any intelligence there.

No. 4 Suzuki V-Strom 1050XT
Webike Motorcycle Selection List Price: 1,258,000 - 1,518,000 yen
It was the eldest brother of the V-stroke which honestly lacked a sense of existence now though the inside was excellent work, but the presence was highlighted at once by becoming the style of the current model. The styling that motifs the DR of the old off-roader is retro and novel. It has a unique appearance that makes it recognizable as a V-s 1050 even from a distance. This is the kind of styling that is unique to Suzuki. And what's even better than the looks is what's inside: a well-matured V-engine that can handle anything from city driving to mountain passes and highways without difficulty. It is an excellent engine with comfortable vibration and high comfort.

3rd Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin
Webike Motorcycle Selection List Price: 1,780,000 - 2,057,000 yen
The Africa Twin is a large off-roader rather than an ADV. Although it belongs to the ADV category, its origins are in off-roading, and it is the most fun and easy off-roading motorcycle among the large ADVs. The GS is also a very high level spartan off-roader, but it is dangerous to go off-roading half-heartedly. On this point, the Africa Twin has a gentle flavor that the GS does not have, so even beginners can feel like going off-road a little. It's a strange characteristic that doesn't show up in the figures.

2nd BMW R1250GS Adventure
Webike Motorcycle Selection List Price: 2,724,600 - 3,117,000 yen
A variation of the R1250GS, the GS Adventure is designed for ultra-long trips. The most important feature is the fuel tank, which has a large capacity of 30 liters. Official fuel consumption is 21.0km/The GS Adventure has a theoretical range of 630km, which is enough to take you from Tokyo to the upper reaches of Iwate. And we're not kidding, that's what the GS Adventure can do. The GS Adventure can travel long distances without taking a break, thanks to its ample power and tireless comfort. I think the GS is popular because of this comfort in addition to its military-like appearance.

1st BMW R1200GS
Webike Motorcycle Selection List Price: 561,000 - 1,580,000 yen
The GS itself has been made by BMW for a long time, but this 1200GS has expanded the market, and it is safe to say that the GS has been a hit, and BMW has been able to secure a development budget for many models. What made it so popular was its looks, comfort and sportiness. The motorcycle's physique belies its arm-snapping acceleration, and its ability to maintain high speeds without clinging to the handlebars meant that it could beat even the best sport motorcycles. This performance is the reason why all the manufacturers made the ADV so high performance. All in order to compete with the GS. It is the king of ADV even now. It is the king from the appearance.

Summary
The 1000cc+ ADVs are still the pinnacle of the market, so I think the manufacturers are putting in different amounts of effort. Looking at all the motorcycles in this ranking, I don't think there is any sense of cost cutting. Of course the King GS does, and there is no room for cheating for each manufacturer to compete. the GS has raised the level of ADV to a very high level. The GS has raised the level of ADV to such a high level that it is no longer possible to compete unless the manufacturer puts everything into it: appearance, comfort, driveability, load capacity, and sportiness. The era is still ADV; it is a category that attracts so much attention that you can tell what a manufacturer is capable of by looking at their flagship ADV.
