Following in the footsteps of the CBR500R, the CBR400R, a lightweight and compact sportbike with a parallel twin-cylinder engine, has been revised to focus on suspension and brakes, and is expected to be made available in Japan on January 17, 2022.
The front suspension is upgraded to an inverted structure!
This improvement of CBR400R is a further evolution based on the current model that was changed in 2019! The sharp-lined exterior design has not changed much. The biggest difference is the upgrade from the current upright front fork to the φ41mm SFF-BP upright fork made by SHOWA. This set of inverted front forks are set in parallel with the four-cylinder. The engine's CBR650R is the same as the CBR500R with a slightly larger displacement, and the front soil is also changed due to the inverted front fork. The brake system is also set from the old 320mm single disc, upgraded to a 296mm diameter double fixed disc + NISSIN-made radial one-way dual-piston calipers.
In addition, CBR400R also adjusted the rigidity of the rear rocker arm, and reduced the weight of the front wheels to optimize the front and rear counterweights, which contributed to the grounding and steering performance of the front wheels. Although the front fork and double disc structure added some weight, these weights It seems to be offset by the redesigned front wheel frame, so the weight remains the same as the current model at 192kg.
The New Year’s CBR400R agreed to be equipped with a water-cooled four-stroke DOHC 4-valve parallel twin-cylinder engine with a displacement of 399cc, with a maximum horsepower of 46ps/9000rpm, maximum torque 3.9kg-m/7500rpm and other data have not changed, but the WMTC Mode fuel consumption value has changed from 28.3km/L is slightly reduced to 27.9km/L, still in compliance with the new emission regulations.
The 2022 CBR400R will launch Grand Prix Red (Championship Red), Matte Ballistic Black Metallic (Matte Ballistic Black Metallic) and Matte jeans blue metallic (Matte jeans blue metallic), which is not available in the CBR500R. The recommended price in Japan has risen by 33,000 yen to 841,500 yen. (Equivalent to about 210,000 New Taiwan Dollars), considering the upgrade rate, this price seems to be worth the price.
