What Type of Motorcycles Do You Recommend That are Less Likely to Break Down?

Motorcycle Reviews

Compilation list of recommended motorcycles that are trouble-free.

Webike's "Search Bikes by Bike Life" is a site where you can find recommended bikes for different situations based on information from Webike users. In this issue, we're going to introduce you to some of the bikes that we recommend that have few breakdowns, along with the voices of actual users!

What are the recommended bikes that are less likely to break down anyway?

Do you ever feel a little scared when you are riding your motorcycle? When you are touring, you may suddenly think, "What if it breaks down? If it's a short distance, you don't have to worry about it too much. However, the further you go to the countryside, the more you will worry. If you are going to tour around Hokkaido, the reliability of your bike is not a joke, it is a matter of life and death.

Now, it's getting cold. Will you be riding your bike in the cold? Or will you hibernate? There are some people who put their big bikes into hibernation and use their small bikes as their main bikes. To prevent breakdowns, there is one thing to keep in mind this time of year. That is to start the bike cold in the morning.

First thing in the morning, the oil is very cold. When the oil is cold, it is very sticky, so it is important to heat it up in order to lubricate it properly.

Also, since the engine is metal, the volume of each part shrinks when it is cold. The biggest problem is the gap between the cylinder and the piston. Have you ever heard a banging sound right after starting the engine? That is because the gap between the piston and cylinder is too large, causing the piston to swing sideways and hit the cylinder. What happens when you turn the cylinder in that condition? Since there is not enough lubrication, the cylinder will be scraped.

In addition, if you accelerate the engine in this state, the remaining gasoline will fall under the piston and dilute the oil. In the case of synthetic oil, it is said that there is no need to worry too much, but in the case of mineral oil, since it is made from crude oil, it is related to gasoline and easily dissolves. If the oil is diluted, the lubricating performance will naturally decrease, which will accelerate engine wear.

Considering these factors, there is no better way than to warm up the engine. Fortunately, in Japan, there is no law that prohibits warm running like in Germany, so please give your engine a good workout as much as the environment allows.

As I mentioned earlier, I have chosen a bike that is said to have few failures. Please take a look. To put it bluntly, today's bikes are extremely reliable, so please feel free to ride them. By the way, this time the bike is relatively easy to ride even in winter.

Feedback from owners who ride the recommended bikes with fewer breakdowns.

Here's some of what some of the owners have to say about their actual bikes that they recommend because they're "trouble free"!
We've picked them up by displacement so you can use them as a reference when looking for a bike!

Recommended mopeds (~125cc) with few breakdowns.

PCX125

In addition to good environmental performance and good driving performance, there are no breakdowns. The engine itself is designed to have very low resistance, so it is very reliable.

Purpose of purchase, purpose of use, comparative modelsI was looking for a moped with a disc rear brake, and decided on the PCX because of its style.
Strengths/Satisfactory pointsI'm still breaking in the bike, but the acceleration is good and the turning of the handlebars is light, so it's very easy to ride. The bike looks stylish and is a size that is hard to believe for a 125cc bike, so I feel satisfied when I ride it.
Weaknesses and complaintsIt seems to have almost no drawbacks, but if I had to say, it is a little hard to handle because it is big, and it is a little hard to stand on because the height is a little high. Well, it may be just because I think it's hard to handle and footing because I change from Zoomer X.
Advice to prospective buyers.I think it's a good bike to buy because it's the top selling moped 2 class. I think it is a satisfactory one because it has a luxurious feeling compared with N-MAX. The quietness when you use the idling stop function is impressive.

Recommended mopeds (~125cc) with few breakdowns.

Cygnus X

It's like a typical city bike, but well, I've never heard of any breakdowns. They have been made for many years and their reliability has matured.

Purpose of purchase, purpose of use, comparative modelsSince my old ZZ died, I decided to buy a cool 125.
Strengths/Satisfactory pointsFor appearance, I like the design of this scooter, it's 12", can carry a good amount of luggage, looks good, runs well, and isn't too big. This is the only one I can find.
I like the fact that the feeling of pulling the left and right brake levers is the same, rather than the front and rear disc brakes working well.
Fuel economy is bad for something so recent, but not bad at all.
Weaknesses and complaintsThe seat is hard. The shape of the seat is not good and the bottom of the seat shifts up when you ride it.
Also, the height of the storage under the seat is a little low, and full-face such as Arai (quantum-j, rapide-neo) and Shoei (X14) cannot fit. (OGK kamui3 can fit).
These are the only two things I don't like about it.

Recommended mopeds (~125cc) with few breakdowns.

CT125 Hunter Cub

Toughness specification of Super Cub which is not broken even for free. There are so many people who do long touring with the Cub, but that is because the rider can feel the high reliability of the bike.

Purpose of purchase, purpose of use, comparative modelsI was thinking of buying a Cub for daily use, since where I live originally is up in the mountains with no bus service.

At first I was set on a regular 110, but when I told that to my friend who is a Honda monophile, he recommended the Hunter Cub heavily.
I looked into this and that and it looked really good, so I bought a quick stock up before I got my license.

Strengths/Satisfactory pointsI knew the Cub was a crazy tough bike to begin with, but this thing is amazing.
Usually, it is used like a scooter by making the best use of the load capacity, but on holidays, it can be used for touring, and it is really all-mighty.
I thought the height of 800mm was too high. but it is not bad for the footing unexpectedly.

Also, I heard that red stands out like crazy.

Weaknesses and complaintsI think the vibration to the buttocks comes a lot. A cushioned seat cover was a must.
The exhaust pipe from the engine to the muffler is also quite chattering.

It's often been said that the difficulty of opening the battery cover and the choppy wiring inside is bad enough.
The battery cover can be easily opened by shaving off the claws, but the wiring. I wanted more space because there is really zero room when you put the drive recorder in there.

Also, the gauges could use a few more features. I wanted shift position and a clock.

Advice to prospective buyers. It is very expensive when you think of it as a Cub, but I think it is one that you will be absolutely satisfied with.
I've heard that a lot of people in the upper 40s are buying these bikes, but I'm sure students who just got their license can play with them too!

Recommended medium-sized motorcycles (~250cc) with few breakdowns.

Gixxer 150

The bike was originally designed for the Southeast Asian region, and considering that region's characteristics, it would have to be very tough to survive. It's a very simple bike, and that's why it's hard to break.

Purpose of purchase, purpose of use, comparative models1. Replaced GROM to use high speed / motorway
(I bought a new used car when it was remodeled at a discount)
2. 70% commuting, 30% short touring
Strengths/Satisfactory points1. Good fuel economy (45~50km for commuting)/Around L, 55km in touring/It can exceed L)
2. Good for city streets and downhill widing.
3. easy to deal with
4. The car is rigid and has a good suspension.
5. The vibration of the engine is also very low, so there is no fatigue.
6. The engine turns lightly and is a joy to use from the bottom to the top.
Weaknesses and complaints1. At high speeds, a little more power would be nice.
→100km/If you want to go faster than that, you'll be fine, but if you want to go faster than that, you'll be fine.
2. The production and quality of the detailed parts are made overseas and suitable for a certain price.
→Improved by replacing bolts and improving shift change. The bolt screw hole will be crushed if you are not careful.
3. Very few custom aftermarket parts.
→There is a diversion part if you look for it.
4. The steering wheel is too wide.
→Improved by cutting both ends of the handle by 5mm
5. There's almost no space under the seat.
6. The rear seat is so narrow that it's hard to fit seat bags.
Wouldn't it look better with a carrier + box?
Advice to prospective buyers. It is recommended for people who mainly ride around town, commute, and down the road, and occasionally use highways and motorways. It has good fuel economy, and the bike itself is complete and runs well for the price.
