Honda CBR600RR Review
I will introduce "Owner Review Summary", a collection of reviews based on the voices of owners who have actually ridden various motorcycles from the Webike Community's My Bike.
In this issue, we bring you the real voice of the owner about the "CBR600RR"!
This is what CBR600RR is!
The 600cc RR has continued since 2003, but this PC40 model released in 2020 will be the last.
The reason is the disappearance of the market. The reason why the CBR600RR is 600cc is because the race regulations were 600cc (WSS, the 600cc production motorcycle race in Europe), SS = race, and race motorcycles are built based on public road models, so in order to compete in races, they had to be built with 600cc. However, starting in 2020, the regulations will no longer be limited to 600cc motorcycles (motorcycles with more than 600cc will also be able to compete), and more importantly, the 600cc SS itself is losing users. As a result, there is no reason for manufacturers to keep producing them. No other domestic manufacturer has produced a successor to the 600cc class. The PC40 is the last of the domestically produced 600cc models. In fact, there is more demand for motorcycles that are a hybrid of tourers and SSs that also have touring performance. The 600cc SS has become obsolete.
The PC40 is the last model that is too much like Honda. Honda's philosophy of "easy to ride = fast motorcycle" is reflected in their racing machines, and they also produce production motorcycles based on this concept, and the PC40 is exactly that. Honda has raised the bar in terms of the motorcycle by refining the cowl design to reduce aerodynamic drag and improving the engine power and electronic control technology, but the ride position is not tilted towards a serious racing specification. This is because it is designed to be driven on ordinary roads. This is because it is designed to be driven on ordinary roads, and it is an expression of the idea that the performance that makes the motorcycle overwhelmingly fast on the circuit can also be used in everyday driving.
If you look at the Webike user's voice, there is a voice that the forward lean is not so hard as a stiff SS after all. Moreover, the voice that the capacity of the fuel tank is 18L and can correspond to a long touring there. Because the body is also compact, it is popular that the running and the handling are good. On the other hand, if you look at the negative opinions, the effect of the exhaust heat is raised, and it is the fate of the SS, but it seems that the heat comes to the butt because the 600RR has the center up exhaust system. However, the center up exhaust system is inextricably linked to the styling, so it may be a point to be accepted.
Honda did not skimp on the evolution of the CBR600RR, the last 600SS. It's not a spartan, jerky machine, but a gentle machine that everyone can enjoy. I think this is the kind of evolution that is typical of Honda, which puts people first. I think this bike will continue to be talked about as a masterpiece that pursued the possibilities of the 600cc to the end. Just like the F1 the other day, it is the beauty of the end.

CBR600RR Owner's Voice
Purpose of purchase, purpose of use, comparative models | I knew I had to use the SS for the circuit. After comparing it with the CBR1000RR-R and other models, I was attracted by its lightness and sufficient top speed. The 1000cc is still 1000cc. |
---|---|
Strengths/Satisfactory points | I'm still breaking it in, but I like the engine and exhaust sound that makes me feel like a precision machine. Surprisingly good footing, looks fast, suspension works well and comfortable to ride, various information on the meter is fun, various settings can be operated intuitively once you ask. |
Weaknesses and complaints | Exhaust heat from the engine is rather high (better than a 1000cc liquid-cooled 4-cylinder), the position is not suitable for city driving, and the rear cowl is easily scratched when loaded with luggage. |
Advice to prospective buyers. | Recommended for track use. There are many other candidates if it is mainly for town riding and touring. If you like hard work and too fast, I won't stop you. |
Purpose of purchase, purpose of use, comparative models | I originally thought if I was going to buy one it would be a CBR1000RR or this 600RR. After I got a big license, I thought 1000RR would be a bit difficult to ride, so I decided to buy a middle class motorcycle. So I bought 650R. But suddenly it was revived in September 2020! And it is the last model, so I decided to buy it. |
---|---|
Strengths/Satisfactory points | It looks cool. The position is racy, but not too tight. The tank capacity is a generous 18 liters, and the suspension can be set to front and rear damping. The center up exhaust system is cool. |
Weaknesses and complaints | Butt exhaust heat. It is the fate of the center up exhaust system, but it is still hot. If you get stuck in a traffic jam, it's a pain. But the appearance and the performance are more than enough to cover it. I want to try to cool it with a lot of driving wind through. |
Advice to prospective buyers. | It's a pity that the price has risen considerably due to the electronic control, but even considering that, it's a bargain. This model is the last one, so you should buy it while you can. |
Purpose of purchase, purpose of use, comparative models | - |
---|---|
Strengths/Satisfactory points | It is still compact and light because it is 600cc. It runs well and has a nice sound. I don't feel the torque is too thin for normal use except for starting. Quick shifter is the best. It is full of electronic control. |
Weaknesses and complaints | There is only one color setting. The price is high even though it is full of electronic control. The design of the tail cowl is old-fashioned. Not enough torque at start. Heat exhaust is a bit high. |
