Happy New Year! Thank you for your continued support of Webike. As the first shot of the new year, we bring you a review of 2021 and the top 10 new motorcycle sales!
In 2021, we were unable to get out of the Corona disaster, but in the motorcycle industry, there was a bright spot: the number of licensees and the number of motorcycles sold actually increased. Also, at the end of the year, many new models were announced by various manufacturers. I hope that this momentum will continue in 2010. Now, in the January 1, 2022 edition of the Motorcycle News, the sales volume ranking for 2009 (estimated values) was published. I would like to quickly introduce it in several parts.
First, let's take a look at the first part of the "light motorcycles," which are motorcycles of 250cc or less, excluding mopeds, and rankings 6 through 10!

[No.10] CBR250RR/Honda sales volume: 2,700 units
The 250RR is also the crown jewel of a once famous motorcycle, and the four-cylinder engine of the RR at that time was a high-performance machine with over 40ps. However, the modern 250RR also has a two-cylinder engine with performance exceeding 40ps. If you simply look at the engines side by side, the four-cylinder engines of the past will shine. However, in a sense, this was only possible in the days when regulations were loose and people could do whatever they wanted. It goes without saying that in today's world of regulations and environmental concerns, engines with more than 40ps have a much higher level of perfection.
[No.9] GSX250R/Suzuki sales volume: 2,784 units
It can be said that the SS has a very GSX-like character. The top-end GSX-R1000 is equipped with a long-stroke engine so that it does not lose torque at low rpm. The 250R is also equipped with a long-stroke engine, making it a machine with a wide range of capabilities, from daily use to touring.

[No.8] SEROW 250/Yamaha sales volume: 3,019 units
It's a shame to see the most essential bike in its class go. The Serow is one of those rare bikes that anyone can ride and enjoy the fun of riding. When you go off-road, the bike is kind enough to teach you how to ride, and even if you are scared at first, before you know it, you will definitely enjoy it. In terms of performance value, it is inferior to its rivals. However, it is sure to be cute to ride.
[No. 7] Gixxer SF250/Suzuki sales volume: 3,464 units
If the GSR250R is a gentle SS, this is a lively SS. The main difference between the two is the weight: the GSX weighs 181kg, while the Gixxer weighs only 158kg. On top of that, the horsepower is 26ps, 2ps higher than the GSX, and the torque is the same. The Gixxer's performance on the mini-circuit is better than the GSX's, and it's a lot of fun in the city and on mountain passes.
[No. 6] CRF250 Rally/Honda sales volume: 3,962 units
A variation of the CRF250L with enhanced touring performance. It features a large screen, asymmetrical twin-eyed headlight, under cowl, and other design features reminiscent of the Dakar CRF450 RALLY, but the biggest difference between this model and the 250L is the enlarged 12L fuel tank. The base 250L itself has been greatly enhanced in off-road performance in the latest model, so the 250 RALLY also has a great performance. With the addition of longer legs, the 250 RALLY can be easily taken on long tours.
Summary
What do you think? Surprisingly, many full cowl bikes are ranked in this category. With the increase in the number of people who have obtained their motorcycle license, it may be that many people are choosing a 250 sport bike as their first bike. In the next issue, we will announce the results of the first through fifth places. Enjoy!
