Even though the product cycle is ahead of the revision schedule, and the patent drawings and gossip of the new generation models have been released on the internet since 2020, SUZUKI seems to be quite unenthusiastic about the "revision", because they released the 2022 SV650/SV650X in Japan a few days ago without even changing the color.
Lightweight handling and strong torque output
Since the release of the SV400 in 1998 and the early SV650 in 1999, SUZUKI's V-twin engine has been loved by riders in many European countries for its dynamic and easy-to-use features, moderate handling, and relatively wallet-friendly price.
The current SV650 has continued to launch the version that has been sold since the facelift in 2016, including the twin model Gladius 650, and the Cafe Racer-style SV650X in 2018.
The 2022 SV650/SV650X will both be powered by a 645cc V-twin engine that has passed the Japanese Order and 2 years (equivalent to EURO 5) standard, with a slight reduction in maximum horsepower from 76.1ps to 72ps and an increase in weight of 2kg to 199kg (equipment weight).
In addition to the SUZUKI exclusive SCEM plated cylinder and the Low RPM Assist, which ensures the rider can easily drive the motorcycle, the SUZUKI Easy Start system is also equipped as standard. For the brake system, the front dual floating discs with opposing four-piston calipers and the rear single fixed discs with single-piston calipers are used.
Compared to the SV650, which is a typical street motorcycle with a straight-back riding position, the SV650X ABS, with its compact headlight fairing, split grips and brown horizontal striped saddle, is classified as a British classic (Cafe Racer).
The suggested prices for the SV650 and SV650X in Japan have been increased by 17,600 yen, with SV650 = 803,000 yen (approx. PHP 360,770.00) and SV650X = 847,000 yen (approx. PHP 360,541.00). The Japanese launch date will be on January 26, 2022.
