Flagship Reborn! HONDA “CBR1000RR” Relaunches in North America!

Motorcycle & Industry

In North America, emission regulations are slightly different from those of other countries, so motorcycles such as the SUZUKI GSX-R600, GSX-R750 and KAWASAKI ZX-14R, which have been removed from the product line because they do not meet the standards in other regions, continue to be sold as new motorcycles.

A few days ago, in the list of some 2022 US motorcycles published by HONDA in North America, there was the CBR1000RR, the predecessor flagship super sports motorcycle model that had been replaced by CBR1000RR-R and had already been discontinued!

Available in North America only in the latest tri-color livery

The CBR1000RR-R, which came out at the Milan Auto Show at the end of 2019, is a new-generation super sports motorcycle with a maximum horsepower of 218ps and the same electronic control system as the MotoGP participating factory motorcycle RC213V. The price of the third level also makes many knights who like public promotion imitation competitions can only watch from a distance with drool rather than play.

In addition, since the price of CBR1000RR-R in North America is 2% of CBR600RR 4 times, and the CBR600RR sold in North America is still an old version that was launched in 2013 and is a generation earlier than the current Japanese-standard CBR600RR, but there is no motorcycle model for the rider to choose between the two.

Therefore, HONDA put its mind to the CBR1000RR (SC77), which was revised and launched at the end of 2016. Equipped with a 999cc parallel four-cylinder engine, the CBR1000RR has a maximum horsepower of 192ps/13,000rpm and a maximum torque of 11.6kgf・m/11,000rpm, which seems to be quite suitable as a transitional product between the CBR1000RR-R and CBR600RR.

The 2022 U.S.-spec CBR1000RR has no SP version, and only one body paint is available, Grand Prix Red, but there are two versions with ABS and without ABS. Although the maximum horsepower is smaller than that of the CBR1000RR-R, the CBR1000RR has a shorter wheelbase than the RR-R and a lighter and more agile handling feel, which is more explosive. With an MSRP of $16,499 (approx. PHP 845,598.00) in North America, the CBR1000RR-R, priced at $28,500 (approx. PHP 1,460,667.00, and the CBR600RRR, priced at $11,999 (approx. PHP 614,966.00), not only do not conflict with each other in terms of price positioning but also complement each other.

HONDA does not use displacement as the grading standard but distinguishes product lines (and re-production of discontinued models) by performance and price, which is relatively rare in the motorcycle industry, and should only be born to advocate freedom, Only the unconstrained US market can do this~
