SUZUKI has announced that it will officially launch the slightly revised KATANA in Japan from Friday, February 25, 2022, in compliance with the latest environmental regulations. Although the avant-garde styling is unchanged, the engine output has been slightly increased with the addition of a new electronic control system, and the suggested price in Japan is 1,606,000 yen including tax (approx. 713,519.00 pesos).
Engine with improved intake/exhaust system and electronically controlled throttle
The new generation of KATANA, reintroduced in 2019, is based on SUZUKI's streetfighter model GSX-S1000S, and pays homage to the great first generation KATANA while fostering a new fan base by adding modern interpretations (such as the upwardly positioned handlebar and short rear end).
Although the 2022 engine inherits the same 999cc parallel four-cylinder engine from the famous 2005 GSX-R1000 (K5), the internal structure of the engine has been improved considerably, with a new electronically controlled throttle, a change in the internal structure of the air filter box, and a modification to the intake/exhaust section of the camshaft to reduce lift and overlap time. The above changes not only allow the 2022 KATANA to pass the latest EURO 5 standard, but also slightly increase the maximum horsepower from 150ps to 152ps and slightly reduce the maximum torque to 106Nm, but the maximum torque generation speed is reduced by 250rpm to 9,250rpm.
In addition to a slight increase in power, the new KATANA has introduced a new electronically controlled throttle system, the new S-DMS (Power Mode Selector System) that can change the output characteristics to three modes, and the traction control system has been increased from the current model's three +OFF to five +OFF, allowing riders to make more detailed settings.
Other updates include the addition of a two-way quick release that supports forward and reverse gears, allowing riders to shift gears without pressing the clutch while riding. Automatically increases the revs when starting off for smooth ride control.
The 2022 KATANA will be covered with two new colors that attract the attention of motorcycle fans. They are dark blue and silver, both of which are painted with matte finish. The former is paired with orange-gold wheels, and the latter is bronze champagne gold. Modern air. In terms of details, the outer tube of the inverted front fork is adjusted from the black of the current model to gold. With all the colors, it shows the color concept of "advanced and chic". The suggested price in Japan is 1,60,6000 including tax (approx. 713,519.00 pesos).
