Be on your Guard! Accidental Encounter! [Safety]

Motorcycle & Industry

Hello, I'm Nyandanya.
Today, I would like to talk about accidents with a high rate of occurrence, which I would like everyone to be aware of.

What are the accidents with the highest incidence?

What kind of accidents do you think are most likely to happen to motorcyclists?

It was an "encounter accident".

Most of the time, "run-in accidents" occur at intersections, not alone, but always with a partner, and they often lead to serious accidents.

I would like you to think with me about how we can prevent this.

Mopeds (50cc) have a two-step right turn, so while right-on collisions are rare, they often enter intersections as if they were bicycles, resulting in collisions at the encounter.

Number of reasons why four-wheeled vehicles collide with motorcycles. The first one is a right-hand accident, but the encounter also occurs at a high rate (25%).

What is an encounter accident?

An encounter accident is an accident in which two people entering from different directions collide at an intersection.

The person you hit is not only a car or a motorcycle but also a bicycle or a pedestrian.

The majority of accidents occur at intersections with poor visibility and no traffic signals, when one or both drivers enter the intersection without checking for safety.

For example, in such a situation, if the driver fails to stop properly, or if he/she misses a bicycle or a car and starts off after stopping, an encounter accident will occur.

Why does it happen?

The three main factors contributing to encountering accidents are "overlooking signs," "making assumptions," and "cognitive error," Nya said.

Overlooked Sign

The majority of encounter accidents occur at intersections with poor visibility and no traffic signals.

In many cases, drivers miss the "stop" sign and enter the intersection, resulting in a collision with a priority vehicle.

Also, when a driver ignores the stop line and stops just before an intersection, this can lead to an encounter accident.

Assumptions

It is a case where a driver thinks that the road he is driving on is a priority road and causes an accident.

Many occur at intersections with similar road widths and no stop signs on either side of the road or are caused by the assumption that the other party will stop.

Cognitive Error

Nyah is a case of driver oversight, where the driver looks in the curve mirror or checks to see if the other driver is coming, but as a result, misses the turn and causes an accident.

While automobiles are large and can be seen, pedestrians, bicycles, and motorcycles are small and can easily be overlooked, leading to accidents.

What can be done to prevent accidents from occurring?

I would like you to think together with me about what to do.
