DAX125 performance predictions based on a base motorcycle!
From the Webike Community's My Bike, "Owner Review Summary" introduces various motorcycles based on the opinions of owners who actually ride or have ridden them.
In this issue, we bring you performance predictions based on reviews from base owners about the new 2022 DAX 125!
What kind of performance does the DAX 125 offer?
After its debut at the Osaka Motorcycle Show, the DAX 125 is finally back, a classic machine that still has a strong hold on fans with its compact and adorable sewing-machine-like style. It is sure to keep some fans awake at night and their hearts racing.
One of the features of the old DAX was their sewing-machine-like frame, which is likely to be faithfully reproduced in the new models as in the originals. However, some parts will be shared with existing models. As expected from the size of the body, many of the parts will be shared with the Grom (MSX 125) and the Monkey 125. The engine, in particular, is based on the one used in the Super Cub C125 and Grom, although there are minor tuning differences. As with the Cub, an automatic centrifugal clutch 4-speed manual transmission is likely to be used.
From this, I would predict that the DAX 125 feels like a mix of the ride quality of the Monkey 125 and the Super Cub C125. Let's see what Webike users have to say based on this information.
First, let's look at what people are saying about the C125 in terms of its engine: With its 1W25cc engine, it has plenty of torque, and people say it can keep up with the flow of traffic on large arterial roads. It also climbs hills well, and most importantly, it has excellent fuel economy. The DAX's tires are smaller in diameter than those of the Cub, so you can expect a more powerful ride.
Next, on the chassis side, I think the Monkey 125 is a good reference here. Some say that the small-diameter tires and short distance between the axles allow the rider to turn corners at low and medium speeds as desired. Some say that the seat is comfortable and the position is easy, allowing them to go surprisingly long distances.
The DAX 125 will be a bike that is very easy to ride on the street, but also a tourer that can go long distances. Just the thought of such a small bike that can be ridden over long distances reliably makes our hearts skip a beat.
And no doubt, there will be custom parts that will appear from third parties. I am sure that there will be a star-studded lineup of parts in the future. A manufacturer-complete custom vehicle will surely be available. The little giant, the DAX 125, is about to roll out!

Motive for purchase, intended use, and comparative models | Transferred from Monkey (FI) to Monkey 125 |
---|---|
Pros/Satisfactory | It is a very fun bike to ride. Since I switched from a monkey (FI), it has evolved to run and stop as a matter of course. |
Cons/dissatisfactions | Nothing is packed in stock, you have to add carriers, etc. I personally don't like the rear box because it takes away the center of gravity, so I added a bag from the G'craft x DEGNER collaboration. |
Advice for prospective buyers | New parts are being released every day, so there are many different options for this bike. You can enjoy your own personalized monkey whether it is stock or custom. |

Motive for purchase, intended use, and comparative models | Grom 5 speed Z900RS |
---|---|
Pros/Satisfactory | Surprisingly pleasant to drive uphill, too. On winding descents, you can brake with confidence and release the gas pedal mid-corner. It turns as desired in low to medium speed corners. It is fun even if you are not going fast. |
Cons/Dissatisfactions | High-speed corners cause a sense of uneasiness. I want more stability, such as straight line stability. I want more power. Knee grip is difficult. |
Advice for prospective buyers | I think it is a great and fun bike to buy considering the advantages and disadvantages of a small-diameter mini bike. It is fun to play with at low speeds, fluttering around corners on winding roads, or fully opening the throttle. And it still runs 55-61km per liter. |

Motive for purchase, intended use, and comparative models | I wanted a moped 2 that could go far, so I bought it. There is no comparison and only one choice. |
---|---|
Pros/Satisfactory | The latest Cub that looks like a first generation Cub. Front disc for peace of mind. The corners are also moderately aggressive. The engine is torquey and easy to drive. |
Cons/dissatisfactions | Because the engine is a torque type, it does not rotate at high rpm. There is no growth from about 6000 rpm. The headlights are LED, but they feel dark and hard to see at night. |
Advice for prospective buyers | It is a versatile machine that can handle everything from city driving to touring of about 300 km. The tank capacity is small, but the fuel consumption is about 60km/L, which is okay. I think the meter is pretty out of line and shows too much... The exterior removal was the worst. |

Motive for purchase, intended use, and comparative models | For city riding and a little touring in Tokyo |
---|---|
Pros/Satisfactory | The fuel economy is so good that I can't drive any other car or motorcycle. I can run 60km per liter with ease. It is easy to maneuver and the top speed is sufficient for ordinary roads. |
Cons/Dissatisfactions | Cub touring is fun, but I can't go very far because I can't ride fast. And my biggest complaint is that I can't kick-start it. |
Advice for prospective buyers | The super cub c125 should still be bought as a second generation. And be careful until you get used to riding it because of the rotary gear. |
