From among the MY BIKES posted in the Webike community, here is "y_sirochan's" current motorcycle, a GPZ750R.
About 10 years after the Z1, Kawasaki released the GPZ900R in 1984 as a full-length model for a new era. Kawasaki's first 4-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC, 4-valve engine produced 115 PS, a top speed of over 240 km/h, and 0-400 m acceleration in 10.976 seconds. It quickly became the fastest motorcycle in the world.
The Ninja's speed was symbolized by the scene in the 1986 movie "TOPGUN. Many riders were impressed by the sight of Tom Cruise, the star of the movie, riding the Ninja as if it were a fighter jet on the ground. In North America, the GPZ900R was the first motorcycle to be given the pet name Ninja, and the image of Ninja = GPZ900R is still firmly established.
And in Japan, the GPZ750R, the Z2 to the Z1, was released, ushering in the era of water-cooling for Nanahan. There is a theory that this is the Ninja that appeared in Top Gun, since "y_sirochan's" GPZ750R appears to have the same coloring as Maverick's favorite motorcycle. There is also a persistent theory that it is a black and red 1985 GPZ900R for North America.
However, when compared to the Maverick Ninja, the color of the center cowl does not match. Also, the manufacturer's name and motorcycle name have been erased, and even the displacement is unknown; this is a phantom Ninja. black and red was popular on Kawasaki models around 1985, and was also included in the Ninja lineup, and the color scheme was probably arranged and used in the movie.
▲This Ninja appeared in Top Gun, and was displayed at a special exhibition of motorcycles; the sticker from the play has been removed. You can see that the coloring is slightly different from the two motorcycles below.
The GPZ750R of "y_sirochan" is the first generation 1984 GPZ750R, and its coloring can truly be called the genuine Top Gun color.
The black and red color that existed in North America was this 1985 GPZ900R, and although the upper cowl and fuel tank are painted differently, this is also a Top Gun color among the 900s.
▲By the way, the 1985 KR250S also exists in black and red colors.
▲Other 1986 AR125S models were also available in black and red, indicating that this was a fashionable color scheme at the time.
