Yamaha TMAX560 TECH MAX: The 2022 Version Evolves Significantly with Lightweight Wheels, TFT Meter, and More!

Yamaha's redesigned TMAX560 TECH MAX ABS and TMAX560 ABS automatic sport models will be available on July 7, 2022. The 2022 TMAX concept is "Maximize the Moment ".

The new features include: (1) a sportier riding position with lightweight wheels, new tires, and the latest grips; (2) a new riding position that harmonizes with riding performance; (3) new features and equipment such as the company's first electric tank cap; (4) a 7-inch high-intensity TFT meter; and (5) all-new styling that is more compact while retaining the sportiness of the TMAX.

The TMAX560 Techmax ABS and TMAX560 ABS are priced at approx. 11,648 USD and approx. 10,243 USD, respectively, including tax.

The TMAX560 Techmax ABS is based on the TMAX560 and features a cruise control system, electrically adjustable screen, grip warmers, heated main seat, adjustable rear suspension, and glowing handlebar switches that support nighttime visibility (also used on some "TMAX" models). The TMAX560 is a high-end model with enhanced comfort.

Feature 1: Further improvement of sportiness with lightweight spin-forged wheels, new tires, and APSG

Lightweight 10-spoke die-cast aluminum wheels with the company's proprietary SPINFORGED WHEEL technology are employed, reducing the moment of inertia by approximately 10% in the front and 6% in the rear. Specially developed tires are also employed. The Φ41mm inverted front suspension and rear shock absorbers have also been re-set. Both front and rear damping forces are slightly harder than those of the previous model.

Furthermore, the APSG (Accelerator Position Sensor Grip), which eliminates the need for a throttle cable, is adopted. This reduces weight and provides a natural acceleration feel, contributing to a high level of sportiness.

Feature 2: New riding position harmonized with driving performance

To further enhance the sporty ride, the three riding positions (handlebar, seat, and footpeg) have been redesigned. The new model is slightly more forward-leaning than the previous model. The footboard area has been widened front to back, and the seat has been extended front to back. The backrest can be adjusted in three positions (±15mm) without the need for tools, enhancing the rider's comfort. The tight-fitting body shape also improves footing.

In addition to matching the machine to various physiques, it also provides both a position with a sense of unity, with the vehicle held by the "waist and legs," and a spacious, comfortable, and highly flexible position.

Feature 3: New ergonomic features and equipment such as an electric tank cap

The Smart Cap (electric tank cap), which unlocks and opens the cap when the hinge is pulled up within two minutes after the vehicle is turned off, is adopted for the first time. In addition, power on/off, steering lock, and seat open can be operated by a center switch located under the steering wheel. In addition, the joystick on the left handlebar switch allows intuitive operation, such as switching between meter displays.
The TMAX560 TECH MAX also features an engine one-push start and light-emitting left and right handlebar switches. The light-emitting switches are easy to operate in the dark.

Feature 4: 7-inch high-brightness TFT meter that extends the fun of touring

It features a large, easy-to-read 7-inch high-brightness TFT meter. Three design options are available to suit different scenes and preferences.

In addition, the "MyRide - Link" application has been developed to display the rider's smartphone information on the vehicle's TFT meter. By installing this app and connecting to the vehicle via Bluetooth, smartphone information such as incoming calls and e-mails, weather around the current location, and music playback can be displayed on the vehicle's meters.

Furthermore, by installing the "Garmin MotorizeTM" (fee required), a motorcycle navigation app jointly developed by the company and Garmin exclusively for the TMAX560, the navigation function can be used on the meter screen.

Feature 5: All-new styling that inherits the sportiness of the "TMAX" and is a bit more compact

Based on the design concept of "The Beast unveiled," the body was made compact to emphasize the sportiness inherent to TMAX. The iconic two-light headlamp is thin and sharp, and the aerodynamically designed front cowl has sporty details reminiscent of air intakes.

The liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, DOHC, 4-valve, in-line 2-cylinder, 360-degree crank, 561cc engine achieves powerful, low-vibration, high-quality dynamics while maintaining a lightweight feel. While maintaining ease of handling, the engine delivers acceleration at mid to high speeds and drive characteristics that allow the rider to control the vehicle as intended. High driving force is achieved throughout the entire range from low to high speeds. In addition, the YCC-T (electronically controlled throttle), which electronically controls the throttle valve drive, delivers excellent response. The traction control system supports smooth starting and driving, and the D-MODE (driving mode switching system) allows the driver to select a driving mode according to the driving environment and personal preferences.

A sound that combines excitement during acceleration and quietness during cruising

The TMAX560's two-cylinder, the 360-degree crank engine has a characteristic of sound generation that is an integral multiple of the engine's rotational speed because of its equally spaced explosions, and the sound design takes advantage of this characteristic.
The horizontally opposed reciprocating piston balancer used in the engine cancels out vibrations that would otherwise be noise components. In addition, by changing the shape of the sound level depending on the rigidity of the air cleaner, the sound is tuned to an integral multiple of the engine speed. In pursuit of a pleasant and sensual sound, the exhaust sound is quiet, yet low, powerful, and mature.
