Lightning Motorcycles, an electric motorcycle manufacturer from the United States, has introduced the Lightning Tachyon Nb, a special electric motorcycle model, created to record speed statistics which is interesting. The manufacturer aims for a top speed of 250 miles per hour or about 402.3 kilometers per hour only. That's less than the record set by Voxan Motors in 2021, with a top speed of 283 mph (about 455.4 kph).
2021 Voxan Wattman
Back in 2013, Voxan Motors introduced the Voxan Wattman, an electric motorcycle, as the Roadster Cruiser, as the basis for the development of the Wattman used to set the 2021 top speed record. The Kennedy Space Center's test runway and space shuttle launch site are record-setting locations. And it can reach a top speed recorded at speed of 283 miles per hour or about 455.4 kilometers per hour.
2019 Mobitec EV-02A
Voxan Motors' parent company, Venturi, has set an official record, but it seems that FIM, the governing body for two-wheeled motorsports will be no confirmation on this matter. The reason is that according to the news source Voxan Wattman's stats will not meet the stated standards. Therefore, it has not been given an official top speed record. Therefore, the FIM-certified record for the top speed of electric motorcycles remains Mobitec. The EV-02A has a top speed of 204.4 miles per hour or about 328.9 kilometers per hour. The record took place at the Bonneville Salt Flat in December 2019, so that's why Lightning only aims for the Tachyon Nb to reach a top speed of 250 mph. That's almost a fifth more than the Mobitec EV-02A recorded.
Coming back to the Lightning Tachyon Nb for a bit, the developers say the Tachyon Nb represents Lightning's dedication to building a faster, sharper machine that's superior to the formerly powered LS-218. The world's fastest electric, the Tachyon Nb will be customized to become a Streamliner or focus on straight line speed. with a longer wheelbase than usual lightweight construction and covered with a fairing ring designed with airflow in mind. Ignoring the mechanics of actual road use.
At the heart of the Lightning Tachyon Nb, is that its body is constructed of Niobium, a more wear-resistant metal for better performance as well as being the main ingredient in battery production. This gives the battery a higher energy density compared to conventional lithium-ion batteries. In cooperation with the Brazilian company CBMM which is the world's number one developer of Niobium metal.
Richard Hatfield, CEO, and Founder of Lightning Motorcycles said that they are excited to announce the Tachyon Nb, the new electric superbike developed to break the current Land Speed Record at Bonneville. Innovation is in the DNA of Lightning, this partnership enables the two companies to take vehicle battery technology to the next level. Lightning's vision is to keep pushing the limits of what's possible and promote the adoption of electric motorcycles around the world.
Lightning appears to be taking the Tachyon Nb to a speed record at the Bonneville Salt Flat in Utah in November. If there is movement or setting a new speed record We will present them on the next occasion.
