There is only about one week left. Will this really be the end of the traditional Honda CB400?

We expect that the Honda CB400 will continue to be around for a long time. We would like to share the information with you and make a bold prediction about its appearance.

A liquid-cooled parallel 4-cylinder engine is under development. No VTEC?

The CB400SF, launched in 1992, has been sold for 30 years while undergoing a series of model changes, including the introduction of the Hyper VTEC engine in 1999 and the switch from carburetors to FI (electronically controlled fuel injection) in 2007.

The purpose of both series was to continue sales even under the stricter emission regulations, but it was decided not to comply with the 2020 emission regulations that will be in effect from November. Unfortunately, the series that started with the 1992 NC31, followed by the NC39, and finally the NC42 will come to an end.

And it is probably no coincidence that the first generation CB400SF was displayed in the press room at Honda's headquarters at this October timing. It seemed as if Honda was regretting the end of the CB400SF and sending a message to the journalists visiting this room.

According to the information we have obtained, the successor to the CB400 will be a liquid-cooled in-line 4-cylinder engine without hyper VTEC, and will likely be aimed at the Chinese market.
It is most likely planned as a model for the Chinese market.

Expect its debut in 2024!CB400 Four Celebrates 50th Anniversary with New Model

The 30th anniversary of the CB1300 Super Four, announced by Honda on October 21, coincides with exactly 30 years since its launch in November 1992. In the CB400 series, the original model was the CB400 Four, launched in December 1974, and it will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2024.

The two-year period between the end of CB400SF production and the release of a new model would be a good span for development. In addition, China, which is expected to be the main market, is said to have a motorcycle culture where round-eyed naked styles such as the Z900RS are accepted.

Then, it is a shortcut to success to use the CB400 Four as a motif, which is immensely popular among the CB400 series including CBX400F and CBR400F. The expectation that the 50th anniversary will mark a return to the starting point and wear the Four's style is growing.

Nevertheless, the actual timing of the appearance and the concept of the model is shrouded in mystery.
Stay tuned for more information.
