To be Honest, What do you think of the「GIXXER 150」| Owner’s Review

Motorcycle & Industry

From the Webike Community's My Bike, the "Owner Review Summary" introduces various bikes based on the voices of owners who actually ride or have ridden them.
In this issue, we bring you the real voice of the owner about the SUZUKI GIXXER 150!

To be honest, the Gixxer 150 is this kind of bike!

Recently, there are more and more choices of smaller displacement class motorcycles than the 250cc class, both domestic and foreign models. Although they require a standard motorcycle license, unlike the 125cc class mopeds, they can be driven on highways and are lighter and more compact than the 250cc class. It is a bit of an exaggeration to say that they can be stored in the same space as a moped, but they can be stored in a smaller space than that occupied by a 250cc class motorcycle.

There are many scooter models in this class, of which Honda's PCX160 is a prime example, but there are also geared models like the Gixxer 150. The Gixxer 150 is also characterized by its affordable price of 352,000 yen, despite being made by a reliable domestic manufacturer.

In fact, the lightweight chassis is very easy to handle, and the low, slim 795 mm chassis gives the impression of good footing, making it easy to drive even in crowded road conditions during commuting to work and school.

But this is where the Gixxer 150 is amazing. When you drive it on the highway, you will be surprised to find that it can drive surprisingly well. Of course, the maximum speed is around 100km/h, and it does not have the acceleration and stability of a 400cc class motorcycle, but even so, there is nothing scary about driving on the highway, and you can drive with the flow of traffic. In other words, the Gixxer 150 is compact and easy to use as a daily driver, yet it can also be used for highway touring on weekends.

Another great thing about this model is its fuel economy. The 154cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine is called the Suzuki Eco Performance Engine, and it delivers 51.0km/L in WMTC mode for fuel economy, with a calculated range of 612km. The calculated range is a whopping 612 km. In fact, even when running on a single tank of fuel mainly on expressways, the range of over 600 km is astonishing.

It should be noted that fuel economy, driving, maintainability, and maneuverability are of a high standard, with more than 4 points. We have received many comments on the Gixxer 150, and we would like to introduce a review by Dukas, who shows his love for the Gixxer 150.

The motorcycle is priced at just over (approx.) 2380 USD, but it is packed with all the charm of a motorcycle.

The long-stroke engine does not have the exhilaration of high rpm or the power of sound, but it has plenty of power at low rpm, and its light weight makes it easy to ride around in. Even when fatigue sets in after a long touring trip, the driver does not feel as if he or she has to stand still. While the engine is inefficient, the 41mm front fork, mono suspension, front and rear disc brakes, and rear radial tires allow the rider to try many things with confidence.
While the engine is inefficient, the legs completely win out with 41mm front forks, mono suspension, front and rear disc brakes, and rear wheel radial tires, allowing the driver to try many things with confidence.
While being a high-quality getaway bike, it can take you to the entrance of a mountain pass early in the morning on a downhill road, enjoy the winding downhill, and come back on the highway. The feeling around 5000 rpm is a bit rough at first, but as you get used to it, it becomes smooth and you can feel the pleasantly strong torque. From this point on, when driving the motorcycle with limited power up to around 8,000 rpm and thinking about how to make the motorcycle run nicely, the neutral, non-habitual handling makes it a lot of fun. It is also pleasant to drive leisurely at around 4000 rpm with a small throbbing feeling, and since there is very little vibration up to around 8000 rpm, the spacious seats beyond its class, excellent fuel economy, and quiet volume make it easy to get tired, which in turn makes it easy to drive long distances.
In other words, the motorcycle is priced at just over (approx.) 2380 USD, but it is packed with all the charm of a motorcycle.

Gixxer 150 Owner's Voice

Here are some of the most impressive voices among the many reviews.

Nurupo

Motive for purchase, intended use, and comparative modelsI had wanted one for a long time, but I happened to see the current motorcycle in the store and bought it immediately.
The trade-in was unexpectedly good.
Advantage/Satisfactory pointsMoped class size but can be ridden at high speeds. Good fuel economy.
Low price. Easy to maintain because of the center stand.
Good torque for city riding.
Disadvantages/dissatisfaction pointsThe top does not turn. It can reach 100km/h at high speed, but it is hard.
It is comfortable at 90~95km/h. Nothing can fit under the seat.
Nothing can fit under the seat. End with ETC.
The USB port is not included.
Advice for prospective buyersNo worries about warranty, etc. since it is a genuine domestic product. My last motorcycle was a Chinese motorcycle. The angle of the footpeg was strange on my new gear. I had it replaced after claiming it was wrong.
I would recommend you buy from a store with a good warranty.
Also, the amount of oil is low, so it is important to check the amount. Change it often.

Mono wasure

Motive for purchase, intended use, and comparative modelsI wanted a motorcycle that could go on highways and freeways.
I was very fond of the old Gixxer style and the old red/silver color.
The choice was made with the intention of mainly touring down the road, so I was thinking of a 250cc maximum, even if it is large.
Advantage/Satisfactory pointsCompact, lightweight body, and outrageous fuel economy. Looks a little bigger than it actually is. The Center stand is standard and easy to maintain.
Very inexpensive, even for the current model.
Disadvantages/dissatisfaction pointsThe seat is wide, so it is not as easy to get on your feet as expected.
The use of many plastic parts makes it easy to get scratched. It looks cheap to the touch. The headlight is 35W and dark (the current model is LED).
When using the side stand, the body of the motorcycle stands up quite a bit, making it a little unstable.

Mizuno

Motive for purchase, intended use, and comparative modelsI was worried that I was becoming depressed due to mental stress, and I was also worried that I was becoming addicted to shopping. I thought about Jixa-250, V-Stroke, and 250 or more in comparison, but I still could not motivate myself to go out on the highway, so I decided to share it with WR155R for touring down the road.
Advantage/Satisfactory pointsIt is very easy to drive in the 40~60km limit section when driving down the road.
As I am a person who likes to ride along near the limit, it is just right for me to cruise around at the speed limit.
Personally, it is easier than the first-generation Cross Cub.
Disadvantages/dissatisfaction pointsIt is hard to load cargo. Not even cargo hooks. Add Moto Fizz license plate hooks and cargo hooks. Use the seat back with tie-down belts.
If a carrier is attached, there will be a gap problem, and if necessary, a ys seat carrier will be used.

This class of geared models is rare in the Japanese domestic lineup, but if you look at imported models, you will be surprised to find a surprisingly large number of choices.
Although they do not have the extensive warranty system and parts supply system of domestic models, the trade-off is a lower price. The Webike editorial staff has test-driven several geared models in this class in the past, and here are some links to them.
