2023 TRACER 9 GT Introduces Radar, Automatic Braking, and ACC Automatic Follow-up [Milan Show 2022]

Motorcycle & Industry

Last November 7, 2022, Yamaha unveiled the New Year's style of its sports tourer. The Tracer 9GT+ is definitely the one that Yamaha has put the most effort into in this lineup. After all, this motorcycle has introduced a radar system to realize the two new functions of ACC auto-following and auto-braking.

Yamaha's first radar model, the world's first automatic brake two-wheel

The Tracer 9GT is being revised for the 2021 model year, with a new engine displacement from 846cc to 888cc (890cc in the European model year), a new body, and the introduction of KYB's first semi-automatic suspension system, KADS, at the front and rear.

In terms of electronic control, the inertia detection unit (IMU) and the Traction Control and Slide Control functions, which operate precisely with lean angle information, have been introduced to the electronic controls. The front end is also equipped with a cornering assist light that turns on when the lean angle exceeds 7 degrees, bringing the motorcycle to a whole new level of sophistication as a station wagon.

The 2023 Tracer 9GT+ is further equipped with a radar system that allows the motorcycleto detect road conditions ahead.
With the radar, it will be possible to implement the ACC auto-following function, which has been introduced by other motorcyclemanufacturers, to adjust its speed according to the speed and distance of the vehicle ahead.

In addition, this motorcycle has the world's first automatic brake control (Brake Control) system that uses radar to operate. When the system judges that the rider is not decelerating enough and there is a risk of colliding with the vehicle in front, it will automatically increase the braking force of the front and rear wheels.

According to the information released by Yamaha, it will be released in Japan this summer of 2023.

2023 Tracer 9GT+ European Specifications Tracer 9GT+ is the new top version of the Tracer 9 series, with the introduction of a 7" full-color TFT instrument in addition to the radar. The color of the motorcycle in the picture is Icon Performance.

Usually, the radar is mounted in front of the vehicle in a position where there is no object to hide it, but the Tracer 9GT+ is mounted between the two sets of headlights.

It is capable of transmitting millimeter wavelengths of 1 to 10 mm to the front, which is also used in smartphones, and confirming traffic conditions ahead by reflection.

Yamaha's exclusively developed front and rear linkage brake system is able to use Bosch hydraulic components to distribute the most suitable front and rear force ratio. In addition, the rear brake disc size has been expanded from 245mm to 267mm, and the calipers have been improved accordingly.

The KADS (KYB Actimatic Damper System) electronic suspension is used from the standard Tracer 9GT. When the automatic brake control system is activated, it will also adjust accordingly to stabilize the body dynamics.

In this picture, the curve-assist lighting, which emits light on the left side and operates with IMU inclination information, is introduced from the 2021 model.

The Euro-standard engine is capable of producing 119PS, and the displacement will be increased to 888cc from the 2021 model year to comply with Euro 5 regulations. The frame is based on the MT-09 and modified for the Tracer 9, and the swingarm is also longer than the MT-09.

Tracer 9GT+ further introduces a 7" large screen full-color LCD meter

Different from the dual-screen instrument of the standard Tracer 9GT, the Tracer 9GT+ adopts a brand-new 7-inch full-color TFT LCD instrument. Provides 3 types of display, allowing riders to switch according to their own habits and preferences.

The new instrument can be linked to a smartphone to display incoming calls, messages, and other notifications on the screen, and can be connected to a headset for calls via Bluetooth. In addition, the system also allows riders and rear-seat passengers to enjoy music through headphones in sync.

In addition, by installing Garmin's navigation app on your phone, you can project navigation information onto the dashboard through the Yamaha MyRide APP link.

When Garmin's navigation information is displayed, the necessary information, such as the speed, is focused around.
The 2023 XMAX300, which can also use Garmin's navigation system, uses a dual-screen combination to display all necessary information.

The standard Tracer 9GT is a dual-screen combination that displays various information in a neat and orderly manner, but cannot be linked to a smartphone.
