A new Grom with a new 5-speed transmission engine is expected to appear in Japan in 2021, with a new color scheme and emission regulations in 2023. Here we would like to provide an overview of the price and release date.
New color comes in red. Continuation of black but change in color?
The JC92 Grom, with a five-speed engine instead of the previous four-speed and a longer stroke and higher compression ratio, is likely to be the first model change. The engine complies with the 2020 emission regulations, and no changes to the specifications are currently known.
The current JC92 Grom was compliant with European emission regulations = Euro 5 when it was launched in 2021, so it should be able to comply with equivalent Japanese regulations as is. There will be no significant change from the current 10 PS/7250 rpm.
In terms of coloring, the conventional silver color is expected to be discontinued and the new gayety red color announced in Europe will be introduced in Japan, while the conventional matte gunpowder black metallic is expected to be replaced by the asteroid black metallic announced in Thailand.
The expected price is (approx.) 2815 USD, an increase of 40 USD from the current (approx.) 2772 USD, and the expected release date is late February 2023.
