New 2023 CBR250RR Japan Version Features New Exterior with 3-Stage Traction and Winglet Effect

Motorcycle & Industry

I once again photographed the prototype of the new CBR250RR, which is scheduled for release in February 2023. As I have informed you in previous articles, it is equipped with a new exterior and traction control, but we were able to get closer to the details.

Adjustable TRACTION CONTROL for a more aggressive attack.

The new CBR250RR will debut with a major model change to compete with the new ZX-25RR from Kawasaki in 2023.
The exterior styling has evolved, while the engine and chassis have been revised to enhance driving performance.

The main change is the use of a layered inner and outer structure from the front to the side cowl while maintaining the SHOW OFF SPEED STYLE styling concept. Aerodynamic characteristics have been improved by using a shape for the inner cowl that has the same effect as winglets.

The engine will have improved piston rings, cylinder heads, camshafts, and intake and exhaust ports, and maximum power output will be increased while complying with 2020 emission regulations. It is unclear how much more power will be added from the 41 PS output of the current CBR250RR, but further performance improvements can be expected.

In terms of equipment, a Showa SFF-BP front fork is used, and a new traction control system with three levels of adjustment has been introduced. For added safety, emergency stop signals that flash during emergency braking and hazard lamps have also been added.

A quick shifter for up and down support was made optional for the 2020 model change, but it is not standard equipment for this 2023 model either, so it is likely to be treated as an option.

The display window at the upper right of the meter is the degree of traction control intervention, which can be selected from 1 to 3. The 「T」indicator at the top lights up when it is activated, and off to the right is the traction control off indicator.

A hazard lamp has been added to the left switch box. In addition, the level of traction control「T」can now be adjusted with the index finger.

SFF-BP markings were added to the top of the front forks. This is a separate damper and preload function on the left and right forks, which allows for a larger damper piston.

This cowl has the same effect as the winglets by using a layered structure. It is unclear which part of the cowl falls under this category, but it is expected to have the effect of generating downforce.

In terms of details, wing-like protrusions were added in the tail cowl ducts. The shape of the tail cowl was also changed, indicating that even the smallest details had been refined.
