The CB1300 series is the last great car that symbolizes the era of big ships and big guns.

The CB1000 Super Four, launched in November 1992, took its starting point from the concept model Project BIG-1, which was exhibited at the 1991 Tokyo Motor Show. As the name suggests, it was envisioned as the second coming of the CB750 Four, which made Soichiro Honda say, "Who would ride such a monster?"

At the time, the replica/naked bike boom was giving way to a big bike boom, and companies were releasing liter-class models one after another. And as this heated up, displacement grew larger and larger, culminating in Suzuki's GSX1400 in 2001.

Honda took advantage of the big-boat boom of the time and increased the displacement to 1284cc with the CB1300 Super Fore in 1998. However, this was regarded as too big, and in 2003, the weight and body were downsized, which proved to be a success, making the CB1300 a long-seller that has continued to the present day.

And last November 24th will mark the 30th anniversary of the debut of the CB1000 Super Four. Over the years, Honda has continued to steadily improve the CB1300, and even though the current STD model weighs in at a massive 266 kg, it is easy to handle when ridden. The CB1300 is a model with a high level of perfection and deserves to be called a masterpiece.

Production of the CB1300 series will likely expire in November 2026

The reason why the CB1300 series will be in production for another four years at most is that the safety standards for on-board diagnostic monitoring equipment (OBD2), which is required to be installed in accordance with the 2020 emission regulations, will be tightened in December 2026.

The current CB1300 series, which will adopt electronic throttle control in 2021 and comply with 2020 emission regulations, is equipped with OBD2, which has a function to monitor electrical system failures and store a failure log.
And from December 2026, it will be necessary to add a monitoring function for misfires and catalyst deterioration.

This is commonly known as OBD2-2, a measure to prevent exhaust gas emissions in the event of a breakdown. The CB1300 series is not expected to be compatible with this measure and will be in production until the end of November 2026 at the most. With the possibility of termination before the deadline, there are only a few days left when the last big-boat model can be purchased as a new motorcycle.

For the first time, the HONDA CB1300 SuperFour SC54 comes in the Spencer color with blue and navy stripes on a silver body. Many riders have been waiting for this.

HONDA CB1300 Superbordor. Like the SF, the Superbordor is now available in Spencer colors. The release date for both SFs has been announced as March 18.
