Z1R(1015cc)Owner: Fakka
This corner introduces one MY BIKE submitted to Webike Community every week.
The model introduced this time is Kawasaki「Z1R」and the owner is Mr. Fakka.
The Kawasaki Z series is now a premier model. The number of these out-of-print models is no longer increasing, but with the market price increasing each year, owners are finding it difficult to casually handle them as their everyday footwear. Owners must also be careful about the theft of parts and bodies.
However, Fakka's Z1R is very familiar to us, as it was built from an immobile vehicle and is used on a daily basis. The Z1R is a very familiar motorcycle to him, as it was built from an unused vehicle and is used on a daily basis. The Z1R has been moderately customized to make it easy for him to ride while keeping the stock style. The reason why Fakka is able to enjoy riding and customizing such a high-end model so casually is that he lives in Singapore. In Singapore, there is not as much demand for old motorcycles as there is in Japan, and the Z1R is treated as just another old motorcycle and is not noticeable at all there (and you don't even have to lock it up!).
Of course, being overseas, there are no parts lined up at local stores, and consumable parts must be ordered from Japan or the U.S., but the customizers seem to be enjoying the freedom to do what they want. In addition to the standard customization of brakes and exhaust systems, the engine and suspension have also been tuned. The Z1R was released in 1978, and although many OEM parts are missing, aftermarket parts are plentiful, so they have no trouble maintaining and customizing it, and they have already decided on a customization plan for the future.
We would love to see the Z1R operating through the hot tropical city of Singapore.
While it looks almost stock in the posted photo, the parts currently used include KERKER troglodyte tubes, Brembo calipers, CR carburetors, Pams clutch kit, and many other custom functionality-oriented parts!
In Singapore, where Fakka lives, the legendary Z1R is considered an old motorcycle. It is surprising that it can be used on a daily basis without care and does not need to be locked. Values are different in different places, aren't they? By the way, the plate installed on the front fender is the front number plate. It looks a bit like a café style, with a Singaporean flavor that retains a strong sense of British culture.
FROM MY BIKE COMMENTS
I've always wanted to own a Kawasaki Z.
I happened to see an immobilized Z1R at a motorcycle shop, so I tracked down the owner and bought it from him, still immobilized. I thought, "I only live once, how can I let it go without riding it?"
But it was a lot harder than I thought it would be to revive it, and in the end, it took 4 years after I bought it in 2009 to finally get the engine fired up.
Advantages
Style
very easy to maintain
In SINGAPORE, it's just an old motorcycle, so it doesn't stand out.
Therefore, it can be used as everyday footwear and does not need to be locked.
Many OEM parts are still available, and a lot of external parts are available as well, as you would expect from a Z!
I enjoy tinkering with old Japanese motorcycles, so this is perfect for me.
Disadvantages
It is nice to have OEM parts, but the price has gone up so much that it has become quite expensive.
There is no supply of parts in Japan, so everything has to be flown in from Japan, but it's expensive, but now it's easy to send by EMS, so it's a lot easier to maintain.
Address to prospective buyers
Prices have gone up quite a bit and those who want to ride may not be able to anymore if they don't ride now.
The price will never go down and I am only getting older.
