Custom Factory Katanakaji's GS1200SS
Custom Factory Katanakaji specializes in air-cooled KATANA and oil-cooled models. They have a wealth of customization abilities, which is reflected in their complete custom bikes. This custom bike is based on a Suzuki GS1200SS with Katanakaji's original "GS1000R type exterior kit" installed.
The bike presented here is a fully customized example, from the exterior to the chassis. In other words, it can be considered a sample of a further rearranged version of the full custom of GS1200SS. The arrangement includes frame reinforcement, front and rear brake and suspension modifications, and a one-off swingarm and seat. The swingarm is a one-off, and the seat is a foam-filled type, among other upgrades and modifications. However, the shape and overall feel of the bike as a complete machine should be grasped well enough. More to the point, it can be tailored in this way based on the Katanakaji Complete machine.
Handle
The front cowl and other exterior components are from the original GS1000R exterior kit from Katanakaji, and the handlebars are by BabyFace (Sato Racing). On this bike, the one-off top bridge and GSX-R1000 K5 under bracket are clamped to a fork that is a 60mm extended version of the GSX-R1000 K5 fork.
Bodyworks
The fuel tank is the aluminum inner type included in the GS1000R exterior kit, even in the standard version of their custom. The fuel tank for this bike is also one-off, but modified to be much larger capacity.
The seat cowl is also a GS1000R exterior kit. The red and black color scheme of the GS1000R was rearranged to make the black parts a carbon pattern. The seat cowl has a lid that can be opened and closed on the top side, and a box for small items can be put inside.
Engine
The engine is a stock GS1200SS, just like the standard version of their full custom. The intake and exhaust systems have been changed to FCR Φ39mm power filter specs and original Katanakaji exhaust.
Katanakaji one-off oil catch tank was also added to the left side of the engine, fulfilling the GS1000R's endurance racer appearance and function.
Chassis
The frame is reinforced between the seat rail and main loop as well as the subframe, and the rear shocks are lay-down processed.
The front forks were changed from upright to inverted by adopting from GSX-R1000 K5. The front calipers were also changed to Brembo radials, and the front fenders were changed to carbon. The standard suspension and frame for the complete machine are the GS1200SS OEM.
The front and rear wheels are from the GSX-R1000 K1 and are 3.50-17 and 6.00-17 size, while the rear shocks are a custom-made by NITRON without a reservoir with lay-down processing. The rearsets designed minimal style and aluminum swingarm with stabilizer added to the GS1000R are also one-off items made by Katanakaji.
