Suzuki takes a step into a new category.
The GSX-S1000 series was born in 2015. The power unit of the GSX-R1000 (K5), known as a masterpiece, was tuned for the street and mounted on a specially designed aluminum frame. The GSX-S1000 came in two models: the GSX-S1000 with a small light cowl and the GSX-S1000F with a frame-mounted half cowl. I was surprised to find that the engine, tuned for street use from a supersport model, was more powerful and aggressive than we had imagined.
The GSX-S1000 will undergo a full model change in 2021. The styling was given a more extreme street-fighter taste, and various electronic control systems, including an electronic throttle, were installed. However, no half-cowl model was announced. However, we soon found out why. Suzuki had not simply installed a cowl on the new GSX-S1000, but had prepared a new model with a clearly different concept.
This was the GSX-S1000GT, a sports tourer with a low nose and a stretched body line.
GT stands for Grand Tourer. It was released as a model with more characteristics and convenience as a travel bike.
