Not SW-1 But ST250E Type | A Small Number of Customized Versions were Released in Limited Quantities [Fantastic Motorcycles]

Motorcycle & Industry

You may be thinking, "SW-1," but something's different. This model is the ST250E type, which is also a Suzuki traditional single. The photo shows a manufacturer's custom version that was displayed as a reference exhibit at the 2003 Tokyo Motor Show, and a limited number of this model was released almost as is.

Reproduction of a concept from the boom years of the bubble economy with a base motorcycle from the deflationary period

Suzuki exhibited the SW-1-inspired ST250 Design Study Model B at the 2003 Tokyo Motor Show and released it in 2004 as the ST250E Type S Customized on a limited basis. This was probably in response to the popularity of used SW-1 models released about 10 years earlier.

The SW-1 was originally a concept model exhibited at the 1989 Tokyo Motor Show and was launched commercially in 1992. It was planned during the bubble period and was launched in the middle of the recession. Sales were slow, partly due to the high price of 688,000 yen for a 250cc single-cylinder model equipped with authentic-looking features.

However, due to its one-of-a-kind concept, the price of used SW-1 motorcycles skyrocketed after its production ended.
The S customized model that replaced it was based on the ST250, the successor to the Voltie, which debuted in 1994 after the bursting of the bubble economy at (approx.) 2250 USD excluding tax. Even the high-end version, the E-type, was as inexpensive as (approx.) 2865 USD without tax.

The ST250E type is actually the best choice for a base vehicle since its engine is in the same family as the SW-1. It was simply retrofitted with Kijima leg shields, front and rear fenders (rear with taillights), and an exhaust system, but S Customizing was able to recreate the SW-1 image along fairly good lines.

SUZUKI ST250 Design Study Model B (2003). Customized version of the ST250E Type exhibited by Suzuki at the Tokyo Motor Show. It was released in 2004 as ST250E Type S Customized on a limited basis.

SUZUKI SW-1 (1992). A bubbly new proposal by Water Design, which designed Nissan's Be-1 pike car, Pao, and Figaro in the late 1980s. Production ended after only three years with the 1994 model.

SUZUKI Volti-type I. Debuted in 1994 at approx. 2250 USD (excluding tax) during the recession following the burst of the bubble economy and became a big hit. Although the concept was the opposite of the SW-1, the engine was from the same family, and both chassis were inherited from the ST250.
