The new 2023 Monkey 125 was unveiled in Thailand following its European debut in September 2022. The new model will feature a traditional checkered seat and is sure to be a popular vehicle. I would like to provide information on its release in Japan.
In Thailand, also available in three colors with the same checkered sheets as in Europe
The Monkey 125, which was revived in 2018 with an expanded 125cc engine, evolved into a new engine with a 5-speed transmission in 2021. And the 2023 model is the first Monkey 125 to feature a checkered seat, not only in the standard red, but also in yellow and black.
The red checkered seat and red front fork and frame color scheme is inspired by the Monkey Z50M, which was introduced in 1967 as a model that could be ridden on public roads. This special color was also used for the 50th Anniversary of the final 50cc Monkey model.
In Japan, it is expected to be announced at the end of May and released around July.
2023 Monkey 125 Thai Specs [HONDA] Pearl Nebula Red, available from the first generation, is the most faithful reproduction of the traditional color, originally with red frame and front forks.
2023 Monkey 125 Thai Specs [HONDA] The banana yellow color, discontinued in the 2021 model year, is back in the 2023 model year. This model has a gray checkered seat.
2023 Monkey 125 Thai Specs [HONDA] Pearl Shining Black is the continuing color, but this model also has a checkered seat. Both yellow and silver are the base color for the tank.
The Monkey Z50M was released in 1967. Although the Monkey had existed before this, it is famous as the first model released in Japan. The handlebars and seat could be folded down for on-board use.
This is the Monkey 50th Anniversary, released in 2017. It is the last 50cc commemorative vehicle, and like the 2023 model, it reproduces the livery of the 1967 Monkey Z50M.
