On January 13, BMW announced the start of pre-orders for the 2023 Supersport S 1000 RR.
The new model features increased engine power, with a maximum output of 210 PS, 3 PS higher than the previous model. The cowl with winglets is newly designed, and the electronic control system has been redesigned to further enhance driving performance. Reservations began on January 13, 2012, and the price is 2,413,000 yen. Delivery is scheduled to start on February 10.
BMW's cutting-edge supersport continues to evolve
The S1000RR, which has been sold in Japan since 2010, is a homologation model of BMW's Superbike World Championship (WSB) entry, a supersport that has become the talk of the town for its high-performance driving performance that has transformed BMW's image up to that point. Equipped with a 999cc liquid-cooled inline 4-cylinder engine and featuring an asymmetrical headlight layout, the S1000RR was also characterized by the adoption of a BMW shift cam (variable valve timing) for the 2019 model change, which increased engine power to 207 PS and significantly changed the cowl design.
The new model has a further improved engine from the previous model, with an increase of 3 PS from 207 PS to 210 PS. In addition, the reduction ratio has been shortened by changing the number of teeth on the sprockets, Dynamic Traction Control (DCT) with a new slide control function has been enhanced, and the frame has been redesigned to further improve the fighting power for circuit use.

For the 2023 model year, the S1000RR has undergone further evolution, with 56 PS more power than the original model, and it's electronic control and aerodynamics continue to be refined and enhanced.
The cowl design has also undergone major changes, with a new design emphasizing aerodynamics. The front fairing features the S1000RR's first winglets. This fairing, which aims to enhance high-speed performance by deterring the vehicle's body from lifting, provides powerful downforce of up to 17.1 kg. It also increases front wheel traction, allowing more engine power to be used for acceleration performance.
Three color variations are available: "Black Storm Metallic," "Passion (Racing Red)," and the race-oriented "Light White. The price will be (approx.) 18485 USD and delivery is scheduled to start on February 10.

A major exterior feature of the 2023 model is the adoption of winglets, a first for the S1000RR. By increasing the load on the front wheel in proportion to speed, the winglets enhance acceleration performance and play a major role in improving lap times on circuits.
