YeLLOW CORN's Z1-R
In the pursuit of the ultimate in speed for the Kawasaki Z, tuning possibilities have continued to be searched for. This Z1-R is a prime example of such efforts, and it was named "Ham Steak" after the Z1's development code name, "New York Steak," by YeLLOW CORN, a motorcycle gear brand that has competed in a wide range of races.
This Ham Steak delivers a maximum output of 230ps. It recorded 297km/h in various speed tests at different test courses, and has also won many races. Although the engine is high-revving, its large displacement ensures the rider rarely feels a lack of torque even in the low to mid-range RPMs. Its performance in top speed tests and results in races have impressed many custom fans, some of whom have followed its speed. In 2008, more than 10 years after the first Ham Steak, Ham Steak II appeared with the Z engine mounted on the original frame, and it finally exceeded 300 km/h. The Ham Steak series has clearly demonstrated the potential of the air-cooled Z in pursuit of ultimate speed.
Handle
The handlebar is Clip-ons. The cowl bracket is strong enough to withstand wind pressure at 300km/h. The tachometer, which indicates up to 12,000 rpm, is mounted on a carbon panel made by Togashi Engineering. The front master cylinder is by NISSIN.
Bodyworks
The one-off fuel tank, modeled after the shape of the Z1-R, is made of aluminum. The cap is an airplane type. A name logo is placed on the side.
Engine
Based on the Z1-R, the engine is a 1497cc model featuring MTC Φ85mm pistons and a high compression ratio of 14.5:1. The engine has been tuned like a drag racer with an MSD ignition system, Vance & Hines camshafts, and a Faricon crankshaft. The carburetor is a TMR Φ41mm model, and it features pro headers by YeLLOW CORN. The clutch and transmission have been retained.
Chassis
The Φ43mm front forks are made by YAMAHA, while the 6-piston front brake caliper is made by ALCON.
The front and rear wheels are both DYMAG with a size of 3.50-17 for the front and 4.50-17 for the rear. The KZ1000S1 type aluminum swingarm is a one-off.
