At the Japan Moto Show 2023, Yamaha Motor Japan presented a Heritage Style reference exhibit. Its name is the "XSR900GP," an XSR900 with a half cowl and graphics that pay homage to the GP machines of yesteryear. It is not just a concept model; the lineup has been officially announced in Europe, and there are reports that it will soon be sold in Japan!
YZR500 homage model with half cowl
The cowled model of the XSR900 has been the hottest topic of conversation since its appearance as the special custom "XSR900 DB40" at an event in Europe this summer. The XSR900 GP has finally been officially launched in the EU as the "XSR900 GP," and will be exhibited at the Japan Moto Show 2023 starting on Saturday, October 28, together with the YZR500 GP machine on which the concept was based!
The cowl shape is a modernized version of the YZR500, while the large screen and separate knuckle guards are in the style of the GP machines of yesteryear. The headlight was also changed to a racer-style square shape. The graphics are a replica style that pays homage to the Marlboro color scheme.

XSR900 GP officially announced for release in Europe; price and release date have not yet been announced, but it is expected to be released next spring in Europe.

The large screen, separate handlebar guard, and other features reproduce the style of the GP machines of yesteryear.
The riding position is also arranged in a racy manner with fully adjustable KYB suspension, newly designed separate handlebars, and a position-adjustable footpeg. Of course, the equipment is state-of-the-art, with a 5-inch full-color TFT display meter, 6-axis IMU, 3-pattern riding mode adjustment, cruise control, quick shifter, and a host of other electronic controls.
The XSR900GP has already been announced in Europe as a planned production model with detailed specifications and is scheduled to be released in the spring of 2024. And of course, the introduction of the XSR900GP in Japan, which is already under preparation, is likely to be in the summer of 2024! Keep an eye out for more information on this model, which is not only for race fans since the 80's, but also for those who genuinely enjoy sports riding!

Square type headlight. This also enhances the racer style image.

While the XSR900's performance is inherited, the newly designed step and handlebar position provide a more sporty position.

The meters feature 5-inch full-color TFT gauges. Separate handlebars are used for a more racy position.

Engine output and other specifications are the same as the standard model, and the delta box frame, which originated on GP machines, is also inherited from the XSR series.

Wheels are 17 inches front and rear. Tires are the just announced Bridgestone Battlax HyperSport S23.
