Currently, the only mid-engine models that Honda officially offers in Japan are scooters.

A versatile machine that I am glad I purchased!

In 2017, Honda proposed a new sense of value for adventure with the X-ADV. The X-ADV is "convenient and easy to use in the city, and highly capable in the suburbs, including on rough terrain. The crossover of these two elements, combined with an adventure tourer taste on the exterior, won the support of the public. However, because it required a large motorcycle license, it was undeniably not as easy to operate as it should have been. In 2019, the ADV150, based on the popular PCX150 mid-engine scooter, was launched to bring this ease of use to the forefront.

Not only was the design created to produce a tougher look, but the rear end of the seat rail was specially designed based on the PCX150 frame, the suspension was revised to provide a higher grade of ride quality for uneven road surfaces, and the wheels were redesigned and resized. In terms of power output, based on the PCX150, the drivetrain and intake system were reviewed to increase torque in the low-mid RPM range while pursuing more extension in the high-RPM range. Although the price was higher than that of the PCX150, its design made it as popular as the PCX150.

In 2020, the year after the ADV150 was introduced, the PCX150 was remodeled into the PCX160. The displacement was increased by 7 cc to 156 cc, and the frame and other parts were reviewed to improve driving performance.
In addition, the comfort and functions required of a commuter have been enhanced, increasing its appeal.
However, the appeal of the ADV150 remained, and many riders still preferred it.
