Old model owner Test rides the current model of Suzuki “Hayabusa”! |What I felt after riding a lot on touring.

Motorcycle

It's been three years since I gave up my Suzuki Hayabusa in 2020. I used to own a 2008 2nd generation model (export spec), but have had my eye on the current 3rd generation model since it went on sale in 2021.

The current Hayabusa is equipped with Suzuki's renowned electronic control system, the S.I.R.S (The "Suzuki Intelligent Ride System) is a point of interest for the author.

In particular, the "SDMS-α (Suzuki Drive Mode Selector Alpha)," which allows the driver to select from five control settings patterns, including power characteristics, traction control, and engine brake control, is rumored to be quite outstanding; although the second generation also had "SDMS" that allowed the rider to change power characteristics, We were very curious to see how the current model has evolved with the so-called "electrification.

We finally had a chance to test ride the latest version of the Hayabusa, and here are our impressions.

Suzuki flagship with 25 years of history

As old-time motorcycle enthusiasts know well, Suzuki's flagship is the Hayabusa, one of the leaders in the so-called "Megasport" genre of large engine displacement, high-performance sports since the first generation model was introduced in 1999, and the current third generation model is still very popular.

The reason for the Hayabusa's great popularity around the world over the years is that the first model was completely stocked and was the first production motorcycle on the market with an actual distance of 300 km/h. The legend of the "fastest production motorcycle" is still alive and well today, and since it is impossible to fully exploit its high performance on public roads, it continues to attract many fans, including myself.

The second-generation Hayabusa (officially called GSX1300 Hayabusa at the time) that I owned for 12 years was a 2008 export model, a so-called reimported model (Canadian specifications). The "Hayabusa" is a Japanese word for "Hayabusa. The fact that the caution labels on the inner cowl and other parts were in English also made me very happy, as it gave me a premium feeling, as if I had acquired a high-end imported vehicle.
