The air-cooled single-cylinder engine feels great! Royal Enfield “Bullitt 350” Test Ride Impressions

Motorcycle

In early April, I attended a test ride event for imported motorcycles held by the Japan Automobile Importers Association (JAIA). On the day, I was able to test drive a variety of foreign otorcycles, so I would like to share my short impressions. First up was the Royal Enfield "BULLET 350".

It has a more motorcycling-like feel than the Classic 350!

A test ride event was held by the Japan Automobile Importers Association (JAIA) in early April. It's a sort of all-out foreign vehicle ride event, held once a year for the press. From 2023, PCI, the importer of Royal Enfield, will also be joining in, allowing people to test ride a variety of motorcycles... in fact, there will be so many that it's impossible to ride them all in one day.

The first thing I rode in the morning was the Royal Enfield Bullitt 350. I was able to experience the powerful yet warm engine characteristics and the gentle, yet light handling that never rushes the rider.

So far, the "J Series Platform" equipped with Royal Enfield's latest generation 350cc single cylinder engine has been released in the Meteor 350, Classic 350, and Hunter 350, making the Bullitt 350 the fourth model. I have not had the chance to test-ride the Hunter 350, so I would like to report on it while comparing it with the Meteor 350 and Classic 350.

First of all, when you think of Royal Enfield, you think of the single-cylinder engine. Even though it is equipped with a counterbalancer, it retains a moderately soft vibration, and its tenacity at low revolutions is particularly noteworthy. Although the torque is in line with the displacement, if you open the throttle without having to shift down in a hurry, it will accelerate by kicking the road with a single cylinder-like thump, "Tang! Tang! Tang!". The feeling of pleasure at this time is exquisite.
