Before the sensational GSX1100S KATANA, the GS650G was the pioneer!
In 1980, at the Cologne Show in Germany, a prototype that completely broke with existing concepts of design appeared.
This was the "KATANA" created by Suzuki in collaboration with Target Design.
Convinced by the huge response, Suzuki continued development to bring it to market in as original form as possible, and sales began the following year in 1981, as we all know, it took the world by storm.
However, prior to the GSX1100S KATANA, Target Design and Suzuki had made a prototype of what would later become the GS650G.
In fact, there is a group of people in Europe in the 600-650cc class who prefer unique motorcycles with strong personalities and tastes, and the idea was initially to lead the way with this motorcycle.
With the appearance of the GSX1100S KATANA, it became a somewhat low-key motorcycle, but the progress of development had led to a high level of completion, including suitability for touring use, and the catalogue for the European release, which was filled with expert commentary and expressed the design sensibility, made it clear that it was strongly targeted at adults.
