It has been well-made and maintained for over 10 years.
The Hayabusa is Suzuki's flagship model with a modern design. This vehicle is based on the 2008 model and was produced by the shop as an upgraded complete (a complete custom motorcycle with high quality in both performance and looks).
We asked Sugimoto-san, the representative of the shop, which sells Hayabusa as an official Suzuki/Motomap dealer and also performs maintenance, customization, and complete motorcycle production, about the Hayabusa's background...
"It's stable enough that you don't have to worry about it even at high speeds, so it's comfortable to use for touring, and you can even enjoy it on the circuit. The Hayabusa has great performance, but you can also ride it slowly and it's not a hassle at all. It's amazing, but it's just normal. Being normal is actually the most difficult thing to do, but this bike is amazing in that it's managed to achieve that. Our shop has sold as many or more of them as the GSX-R1000, which changed every two years. We've sold vehicles of all years, and there have been almost no heavy problems like engine breakdowns. Even after the model change in 2007 and 2008, the basics have remained the same, a series of normal evolution. It's a well-made "flagship" in itself," he says.
What if you could add something to that greatness and quality? When asked about the points you could improve, he told me the following.
"It's a good motorcycle that was well made to begin with, so if you're just riding it normally, the first thing to do is regularly change and maintain the consumables: engine oil, filters, spark plugs, and tires. Choose new tires each time. For the brakes, don't just change the pads, but make sure the hoses and banjos aren't old and that the calipers work properly. Also check the drive chain and sprockets.
This may seem obvious, but since it has such high performance, it's important to keep an eye on it to maintain it. It doesn't look old, but the original model is over 20 years old, and the second generation is over 10 years old, so it's important to pay attention to that.
Also, weight reduction is very effective, so I recommend it. Forged wheels and titanium mufflers, for example. Changing the front master to radial will improve controllability, and changing the rear suspension is also effective. It's even better if the rear suspension is set up to match the lighter body."
This motorcycle is a good example of how Sugimoto's words have been put into practice. Since the owner purchased the motorcycle, he has focused on making it lighter and easier to control, and has also performed regular maintenance on it. The owner rides it a lot, and frequently drives it at high speeds and on circuits. He replaces worn out parts whenever there are newer ones available, and he requests that there be better parts available. He has repeatedly refreshed both the body and the parts themselves so that they always function at 100%.
And so, even after 12 years, the car is still in as good a condition as it was when it was first built, as seen in the photo. This motorcycle is a good example of the owner following Sugimoto's advice, without compromise, carefully selecting the parts and putting them into practice. It should also be a good reference for those who are thinking of starting work on their motorcycle now.
Detailed Description

The base model is the 2008 model, the first year of the so-called late model. The cowlings have been replaced after being damaged by flying stones and other debris while driving at high speeds, so their functionality has been refreshed. The screen with carbon trim and the carbon monocoque body mirrors are both Magical Racing.

The machined top bridge and left and right levers are made by K Factory, and the cockpit is also equipped with a Brembo GP master cylinder, allowing the rider to concentrate on operating the motorcycle.

The fuel tank has been replaced with an aluminum one made by Beater. This was also repainted and refreshed along the way, just like the cowl. The inner cowl has also been replaced with a carbon one.

The genuine orange and black color is fully painted in the 2008 model pattern. The Hayabusa illustration on the single seat cowling was also painted when the bike was first purchased

The front forks are Ohlins FG R&T, and the brakes are a combination of Brembo GP4RR racing calipers, Sunstar Racing Parts, and one-off Omega Discs. This vehicle was brought into the store in the summer of 2020, and the front and rear Ohlins suspension (→ Labo Carrozzeria), Brembo brakes (→ Brembo Japan), and Marchesini wheels (→ Wheel Technology) were overhauled by their respective suppliers (listed in parentheses). They trust the quality and number of suppliers they handle, and have them look at the parts with an unbiased eye to maintain the parts' new performance.

The riding footpeg is made by K-Factory. The engine has been extensively tuned, including the incorporation of a Yoshimura camshaft, piston changes, port processing, head surface grinding, and WPC treatment of the internal parts. The exhaust system is made of full titanium from K-Factory.

The rear shock unit is an Ohlins TTX, and the wheels are currently Marchesini magnesium forged M7R 3.50-17/6.00-17 sizes. From the initial production stage, they have been selecting the best items for each stage, going from Marchesini aluminum to mags to the new mags (M7R) shown in the photo.
