[Webike Featured Item] Enhancing Riding Experience with YZF-R7 Upgrades

News

Yamaha announced that the YZF-R7 will be released on February 14, 2022. I'm only interested in off-road motorcycles! Except for extreme people who say this, I'm sure everyone is at least a little interested in it.

Winning circuit races! Speed is justice! Just by being freed from the curse, it can become a "real sports motorcycle" that is fun to ride on public roads (and if a skilled rider rides it on a twisty road, it's probably faster than the latest liter SS).

Even if you're a 4-cylinder power supremacy, I recommend that you keep an eye on it without being put off by it.

The YZF-R7 is actually equipped with a world-first feature.

Genuine Radial Master Cylinder

The Brembo radial master cylinder was the world's first to be adopted in a mass-produced model.

No, no, no, no, there have been examples of this adopted since ancient times!! ...Many people will probably think so.
It is true that there are motorcycles that have used radial master cylinders (= radial pumps).
However, those were probably "semi" radial.
The YZF-R7 was the first mass-produced motorcycle to use a true Brembo radial master cylinder that is perpendicular to the handlebars as original equipment.

The radial pump type master cylinders available on the market have a cylinder that is completely perpendicular to the handlebars.

In the semi-radial master cylinder that is (was) used as standard, the cylinder is positioned at an angle of about 45 degrees.

The fact that it has been adopted as OEM means that it can be purchased as an OEM part.

The master cylinder used in the YZF-R7 is made by Brembo.

It's Brembo, Brembo!

What's more, it has a unique OEM design that is different from any of the aftermarket models sold by Brembo, and is not to be missed.

What makes it OEM?

It's probably because the brake light switch can be installed normally and it has overwhelming durability.

In particular, the advantage of being able to install a stop light switch without any difficulty is a very reassuring factor when trying to reuse this master cylinder.

And it's cheap!!

Take a look at the product at the link.
The master cylinder assembly (complete set) is 20,350 yen including tax!!

Webike also offers point rewards, so the actual price is even better! Super bargain price! Amazing Yamaha!

Almost everything you need is included.

Everything is of Brembo quality, and since you can purchase these as genuine parts, there's no reason not to take advantage of them, right?

OEM parts that expand your dreams

View from the back. Stop lamp switch included! The terminal shape is perfect.

It has a semi-gloss black finish that is typical of genuine parts and is popular among connoisseurs, so it will look natural even when used on older bikes.

This "Brembo Radial Brake Master Cylinder Assembly (Yamaha Genuine Parts)" is, of course, in stock at Webike.

As soon as the YZF-R7 was announced, we ordered it for stock!

*Added 12/24/2021: The stock has sold out, so it is currently available for pre-order.

*Added 12/28/2021: The WGP 60th Anniversary Model (lever is black) is also available!

The assembly includes the radial master cylinder body, lever, stop lamp switch, and even a reservoir tank.

What a bargain!

The YZF-R7 is equipped with double opposed 4-pot radial calipers, and the lever ratio is optimal when this caliper is installed.

(This is determined by the pump diameter and lever ratio, so it's not simply a matter of the master cylinder diameter being ΦXXmm, so it's OK!)
In other words, this master cylinder will fit most vehicles that use double disc, opposed 4-pot calipers.
It doesn't have to be a radial mount caliper, but even a conventional lateral mount caliper (axial mount caliper) can be used if it's opposed 4-pot and double disc!

The pump diameter is completely different from the horizontal type, so choosing a radial pump is already difficult, but if you use this genuine master, you won't make a mistake.
Yay!

*Added 12/24/2021 The piston diameter was Φ16mm.
Some of you may be thinking, "Oh, the piston diameter is small even though it's a radial pump...", but as I wrote above, the lever touch changes depending on the piston diameter and the lever ratio of the fulcrum, force point, and action point, and more specifically, the angle they form.
It's not simply determined by the piston diameter, so it's not a case of Φ16mm = low performance!

If the motorcycle has double discs and opposed 4-pots, there shouldn't be any strange things happening!

There are cheap Brembo master cylinders out there, but...

Would you install a fake just because it's cheap, when it's a part that you trust your life to?

Have you ever seen a brand new Brembo radial pump master cylinder that's unusually cheap?

To be honest, there's no way that a Brembo product can be that cheap.

In other words, you can be sure that those abnormally cheap master cylinders are fake.

The shape is identical (it's only natural that it's identical because it's a complete copy), but unlike the real thing, it's cheap because they cut corners on the essential parts.

The part that generates hydraulic pressure in any master cylinder is a rubber cup, and this rubber is the most important part.

The reason why expensive Brembo products produce an exquisite brake feel is because this rubber has been calculated to the last detail.

It can never be reproduced by a fake that only imitates the shape.

But with a genuine Yamaha Brembo master cylinder, you don't have to worry about fakes!
You can enjoy the brake touch that is characteristic of Brembo with peace of mind.

It looks like it can be used on non-sports bar handlebar motorcycles too!

The YZF-R7 has a separate reservoir tank mounted on the stem, so a reservoir tank stay is required for motorcycles with handlebars. Also, there is no mirror hole in the master cylinder fixing part, so if the mirror is mounted on the handlebars, it will need to be replaced with a part that has a mirror hole.

The YZF-R7 completely ignores the characteristic of modern sports cars with a high handlebar position and goes for a separate handlebar feel, with touring purposes in mind, so the area around the master cylinder has the feel of an old-fashioned racer replica.

Therefore, if you want to use this master cylinder on another motorcycle, especially if you want to use it on a motorcycle with handlebars, you will need to ingenuity.

First of all, the part that fixes the master cylinder to the handlebars does not have a screw hole for attaching a mirror.

Therefore, it will need to be replaced with a fixing part with an integrated mirror holder.

Also, in almost all cases where there is no place to fix the reservoir tank (obviously since it is being used), a stay to fix the reservoir tank is also needed.

But don't worry! This has been a long-standing request, so there are plenty of parts available from various companies.
All you have to do is choose and combine them with the parts you like!
If you're already using such parts, you probably won't need to replace them and you won't be wasting money.

This is a good thing...

I've written a lot about this, but there's no doubt that this is a great product.
You will be able to experience the amazing brake touch that only a Brembo radial pump master cylinder can provide.
And it's genuine quality.

Even if you have been hesitant to replace your master cylinder until now, with these three factors - a reliable genuine part, made by Brembo with a proven track record, and an amazingly low price - you won't be penalized for finally going ahead and replacing your master cylinder, right?
Apart from personal preferences such as color, I can't find anything that would make you say, "This is not so great"!

The direction of the banjo installation is the same as that of a normal horizontally mounted master cylinder, so there's a good chance that you can use the brake hose as is!
