The launch of KTM's new small-displacement off-road motorcycle for public roads, "390/125 ENDURO R" could potentially fill a gap in the market, offering a versatile and powerful choice that suits the diverse riding culture in the Philippines, where outdoor adventure and motorcycle culture go hand-in-hand. How soon will be the KTM 390/125 ENDURO R arrive in the country with so much anticipation as it is expected to cater to the needs and preferences of Filipino riders?
A new category for KTM
The term "off-road motorcycle" can be divided into two categories. First, there are trail motorcycles (Honda CRF250L and Kawasaki KLX230), which are the best-selling motorcycles in the market for public road riding. Then there are the racer models such as the Honda CRF250R and Yamaha YZ250FX, which are aimed at core users who want to compete. KTM, the giant of the off-road motorcycle world, has stubbornly refrained from releasing a motorcycle in the category of trail models. The only small-displacement off-road motorcycles available are motocrossers for competition or enduro machines. This is rare even in Europe, where Beta, Sherco, and other companies have been selling a lot of 4-stroke 125 trail motorcycles for A1 licenses.
The 390 ENDURO R and 125 ENDURO R, KTM's first small-displacement off-road motorcycles (announced overseas), are equipped with the LC4c engine like the DUKE series, which shows how suitable they are for public roads. Incidentally, KTM has also released the 690 ENDURO R, a large-displacement off-road machine, but this one can be considered a big off-road machine. In other words, the 390 and 125 are in effect KTM's first trail motorcycles.
