CRF450RX RALLY is finally officially announced. The road to entry in the Dakar Rally is finally open.
HRC has finally announced the continuation of the CRF450RX RALLY. This model has been the talk of the town since prototypes were running in the Morocco Rally in 2024 and the Dakar Rally in 2025. Until now, Honda teams have been competing with the CRF450RLY, a pure factory motorcycle with no production plans, but it was revealed that a rally motorcycle based on the CRF450RX cross-country machine was being produced separately from this factory machine.
HRC has now announced in a release that Red Moto of Italy will build and supply the CRF450RX RALLY with competition parts supplied by HRC. This opens the way for riders aiming to compete in the Dakar Rally and other grueling rally raids to have access to a high-performance rally machine.
Competition parts supplied by HRC to Red Moto are not only the cowl and tower, but also the engine, suspension, chassis, and exterior to raise the overall performance of the machine. The engine has been upgraded from a 5-speed to a 6-speed to allow for a speed limit of 160 km/h in the Dakar Rally. It also includes high-compression pistons, high-performance camshafts, and special ECU settings to maximize the potential of the CRF450RX and ensure stable power delivery even in harsh environments. The suspension has optimized damping force characteristics to both reduce fatigue over long distances and to cope with a wide variety of road conditions. The wide range of adjustment allows the rider to change the settings to suit the riding conditions. The chassis features a reinforced frame based on the CRF450R and a specially designed sub-frame. The large 36-liter fuel tank is divided into front and rear sections to optimize the weight balance.
The carbon rally tower, which carries the navigation equipment, can be easily removed from the main frame, allowing for quick response to any problems during the race.
The CRF450RX RALLY has the potential to make the Dakar Rally a realistic goal for more riders, who until now could only attempt the rally with expensive factory replica machines or heavily modified machines, The new machine is expected to be priced significantly lower than factory machines, making it possible for privateer riders to have a high-performance rally machine at an affordable price point. Some say that only 50 models will be delivered this season, but if these 50 models are almost all headed to the Dakar Rally, it will expand Honda's share in the Dakar Rally at a stroke, and will lead to the training of young riders and teams that will lead to the factory.
